$189 each way DTW to PVR over the holidays from a mileage award in economy. I've bought some $30-35/hour upsells before so I think they are trying to drag me towards $40/hour. The return looks like it has more diamonds and platinums based on the EC seats taken so I may accept that direction. (I know that is exactly what many of you do not want to read!)

Looking at paying ~20k miles for FCM on DTW-SFO (~5 days out). Just to make sure, do these reticket into a revenue first class bucket if the upgrade is before check-in and you pay with miles? Would like to be able to SDC. |

I upgraded my son’s L ticket (OMA-ATL-RIC) with miles to FC a week ago, after confirming with the PM line agent that the reissued ticket would indeed be in a revenue F inventory; the inbound jet for his OMA-ATL was delayed to where he would be at risk for a misconnect, and he was able to switch to the flight over MSP (also delayed, but the same jet on both segments) have not heard back on a refund of the $75, since the impending IROPS should have outprioritized paid SDC, but that’s another story ... |
Lga - rsw $239
Being offered $239/23k on an award ticket for 3-july. Already got cleared into C+ as a PM, so will wait to see where I am on the upgrade list to F when I check in Tuesday.

Actually got a good offer. Purchased a ticket to fly nonstop DTW-SEA. The difference between Y and FC was $179 one-way for most flights - on my leg, it was actually almost $500 because the lowest available FC fare was D. The fare availability tool I use was showing F4 C4 D2, even though the cabin did not look full (11 seats available on a 75D). After buying a ticket in coach, I was offered an FC upgrade for $139 or 13K miles. I surprised myself by buying and was given a ticket with an I fare class. How did that happen??? On a 5 hour flight, that's a premium of $28/hr, which seems a bit low.

The FCM offers seem to rebook into Z or I class. Did you check inventory after to see if C or D had decreased by one? I bet it has and the system simply recedes upgrades into discounted classes while simultaneously removing another seat from saleable inventory. Happens a lot not with dual inventory checks and algorithms instantaneously deciding the reallocation of fare bucket inventory. |

The cabin may not look full due to international connections or partner flights where pax can't select seats until check in, or simply pax that haven't selected seats yet for whatever reason.

FWIW I did just check right now (24 hours after purchase) and it seems like there was probably a transient IT glitch because the inventory is now showing J9 C9 D7 I4. |
I just checked in for a domestic flight tomorrow, I got a FCM offer even though my flight is at J0. What would happen if I take that?

Anyway, one way to find out :p could turn into a lucrative VDB! |
I’d do it if the offer is attractive! Keep us posted! |
I don't normally bite for these offers. I figure that if I wanted first I would buy first, and I should be happy for those upgrades I get for free.
But, I have an offer that looks good. I'm flying JFK-AUA (Aruba) on 1/10/2020. It's a 5 hour flight and the upgrade offer is $179. It works out to roughly $35/hour, and from what I see here the typical threshold is $100/hour. Thoughts? |
I took the offer for a flight from AUS to DTW on July,8th for $154. Does not sounds like a good deal but comfort plus already sold out and 2 seats left in FC.
The receipt still shows Q fare but flight information page shows C fare. Is this expected? Wanted to make sure I get the MQM bonus :) |

ATL-SEA seems to be generally going for $239 each way, Y->F. Peak travel times. Not really that bad, considering the upgrade list on these is always at least 80 deep. Tempting. |
