CDG to CPH connection time

Question for people who do this tranfer regularly (or at least from time to time)...

Will be flying DTW-CDG-CPH in November... have a choice now between a 1.5 hour connection time (CPH around 2:30) and a 4 hour or so time... and then to CPH.

Have to go on from CPH to Aarhus so would love to get to CPH early... but wary of just 1.5 hours to get to the plane to CPH.

Have been to CDG before several times but never to connect to an ongoing flight.

Recommendations from your experience are appreciated.

You should be fine with the 1.5 hour connection time. That's one of my most commonly-used routes and I've never missed it.

I do ATL-CDG-BLQ several times a year, and my fastest connection time ever was 1:45 gate to gate. My advice is: why stress yourself? Go for the 4 hour layover flight. AF has nice lounges on 2E, 2D... I specially like the 2D.

If you are ending up in Arhus and still debating flights/layovers, I suggest also looking BLL as it will save you a couple of hours drive time/train time as well as the tolls for the bridge if driving. My in laws live outside Arhus and Billund now has a more direct route toward the highway by Horsens. About an hour ride to Arhus.

While AF does fly CDG-BLL, I don't believe it is a DL code share so it doesn't come up on DL.com. That said, we use to fly it years ago as an award ticket.

As such, if you look to book BLL, plan to fly via AMS (which IMHO is a way better connecting airport than CDG).

Lastly, I love the departure lounge at BLL - really a great airport.

To your question, 1.5 hours is plenty as long as the flight is on time

Two voted for 1.5 hours and one to end stress... thanks for the feedback.

Re BLL... good alternative if I had more flex in departure time from DTW. Early in the day flight is about $2800... but I can only take a late flight (arriving in the later afternoon from Chicago) and that costs $3800. Too big a jump for the conference host that is paying for the fare.

But now I'm inclined to go for the 1.5 hour time at CDG... and if I miss it for a late arrival, then will trust to Air France to get me on the later flight.

Been to Arhus two years ago... fine city. Looking forward to a few days there again.

On the other hand, last year I had a 6 hour layover at CDG, and asked to be put at least on the wait list list for the earlier flight. They said "sure, EUR300". Yikes, no merci AF!!

Euro300 does take some brass... but in my case, I'd be looking for a place on a later flight because AF was late connecting... can't imagine a similar charge for that. Heck, 6 hours is enough to run into Paris and back on the train for a quick visit to someplace one has not yet seen. The AF club is nice but not 6 hours nice.
