Shenanigans!!
Shenanigans!
Another case of Delta GAs and FAs violating the rules!
I, a DELTA AMERICAN EXPRESS PLATINUM MEDALLION MEMBER, was travelling LGA-CMH on a T-fare ticket. Clearly I am a HIGH VALUED CUSTOMER and I was upgraded to first class. My non-statused companion, flying on a LOW LEVEL AWARD TICKET was NOT UPGRADES!
Shock, horror!
I, filled with righteous indignation, waddled on up to the podium at LGA Delta terminal D, and demanded a companion upgrade! To which the GA, after consulting the computer, spit out an upgraded BP for my companion! We were the only two folks in F!
Shenanigans!
On the way back, the CMH GA steadfastly refused to issue an upgrade to my companion, citing "The Rules". However, on board, I explained the situation to the FA, who GRANTED A BATTLEFIELD IN PLANE UPGRADE to my non-status'd companion! There were only 3 other folks in the F cabin that night!
Shenanigans!
...
It was a light flight, no Medallions were harmed, and my companion got to sit next to me. I'd never have asked if I didn't check the loads first (which showed wide-open F). Kudos to the GA and FA for the treat.

Yeah, I definitely agree that consistency is a good thing. However, I also think that there are times in which it is beneficial to bend the rules in a customer-service friendly way, and I appreciate the GA and FA that did so.

A bit of a weird post. Not sure I get it (and not sure what the rules are / were/were not broken).
All I shall take away from this is the "battlefield upgrade" expression.

I bet the OP would have an entirely different reaction if a DM was to pull something like that and trump him.
When the rules begin to be broken, they become the new rules and eventually everyone suffers because of Shena....
Conrads. to OP, but not impressed here. More disturbed at further inconsistencies

No, because F was absolutely wide open. The aircraft both times went out with many empty seats in F. I made sure to verify this before I asked, and I have a feeling that the GA/FA wouldn't be an idiot and upgrade a non-status companion on an award ticket if there were pending medallion upgrades.
