2011 Double MQM Speculation

Well, someone has to ask the question :D

What is the speculation on this year's DMQM promotion? Timing? Restrictions?

Dieuwer Jan 8, 2011 7:38 pm

mmm...how about a double MQM BOS-LHR promo? It's a new route and I have not seen any promos regarding it yet.

Delta only did targeted double MQM programs this year. I wonder if they are scaling them back.

I think last year's promo was far more generous than the Up to Triple promo in 2009. The fat pile of bonus miles combined with no minimum fare class made it very lucrative (as long as you could get to one of the spoke cities). My guess is we will see another one timed similarly this year; what it will be I couldn't begin to speculate.

I was surprised at how long the Spoke D-MQM promo lasted. I have a feeling that any promos this year will be much shorter.

I am really hoping something from the west coast this year, since there was nothing west of. TN and MONTH, now it should be for the west coast. Well one can only hope.

That is not true, the massive STL/RDU/BNA/PIT promo was open to all.

Of course, this year is another year.

Perhaps triple MQMs on all flight from ATL ;)

LOL, Everyone connects in Atlanta sooner or later - they'd have to give out one meEEEeeelllion MQMs.

Though -with Atlanta as my primary airport ... I would not object. ;)

All flyers that live, or fly through STL/RDU/BNA/PIT.

Last I checked, anyone could purchase a ticket to one of the four cities in the promo (I know I did several times).

Most of us didn't really consider this promo to be targeted. Targeted promos are ones where only certain individual flyers are allowed to register (based on home zip code or some other criteria). This promo had open registration for all.

I think DMQM out of OAK, HPN, MDW, BUR -- Give a boost to the "little big markets" :D.

Answer is yes.

It would be interesting to know if Delta has crunched the numbers of how many travelers with home bases elsewhere made RDU/STL/PIT/BNA trips under the promo and how much revenue this generated. Previous years from those cities could be used as benchmarks.

Yes, a large number of bonus MQMs were earned. However, at a minimum, this yielded a lot of positioning trips to those cities that would never have been taken otherwise.

It would be really interesting to see if they picked a couple of stations out in the middle of nowhere for the promo -- say, Kalispell or Tri-Cities (Tennessee).

I know one FTer that would be extremely happy if they picked TRI for a DEQM promo...
