I'm planning on booking TUL-MNL next week for August dates. Been putting it off till now hoping for a DMQM promo like last year. Do you think I should pull the trigger or keep waiting till the last minute?

In my office, the water cooler count is ~50% of FOs and 15% of GMs. These are BIS FOs (once a month flyers) that will definitely take DL up on their offer as it really rewards them for already scheduled travel- no incremental travel required. I am not sure how many of the 70M SM members are FOs or GMs, but the targeted ones will be enjoying higher status with little effort.

We need a Hub DMQM special this year.

While I agree with the first part of your statement, DL has artificially inflated the ranks of elites and so devalued the Sky Miles program, that I think it is not a bad thing that they are not offering such a promo this year. (at least to this point)

I love a good promo, and I made a few non essential trips to STL, RDU, and PIT to pick up extra miles last year, but I cringe at the thought of future devaluation of DM status.

I became well acquainted with the driving route between ATL and BNA to pick up a few extra extra MQM's. It was not a bad choice to pick up better fares and extra MQM's!! It just seemed a little odd to have to make a connection in ATL.

Is there no promo this year?

Not like the debacle last year (double MQMs through BNA/RDU/STL/PIT). Delta made a big mistake when they forgot about rollover. There are quite literally thousands of people who are now DM for SEVERAL YEARS because of that mistake. I highly doubt you will ever see anything like that again while Roll over is in place anyway.

Sorry, but I doubt that's the case. Given the total number of DMs I find it very difficult to believe that "thousands" are DMs for "SEVERAL YEARS".

Ok, well where are the promos then? I think you will find there are plenty of DMs here who purposely routed through one of the cities to rack up future MQMs. I am DM for the next 2 years and only flew about 70K on DL this year FWIW. Seems like a BIG "oops" to me.

Promos are to fill seats

If the seats are full... who needs promos?

???Huh???

The question was where are the promos. Seats were full last year too...promos drive incremental revenue and they have them (see the BOS double/triple MQM promo on now) but they will never do an open ended promo like last year again...or at least till they pull Roll over.

Who cares if they are DMs for years? If they don't fly, they don't take a seat! If they do fly, then they earned their right.

The issue is they will fly at potentially much lower levels and use the DM benefits. Take me. I am now a 1K at UA and I have a million miles. I can now book and change those tickets fee-free (up until t-72) for 2 more full years, use the SC for free, use the DM line for IROPs, board in front of all the Plats who are actually spending $$ with DL, take upgrades on award tickets taking seats from Plats who are paying, and never set foot on a DL plane as a paid customer. If you look at the program they only give benefits to those who are flying now (look at the MM program for proof of that) so this is totally against the way DL thinks.

This was a HUGE mistake and that is why you will not see it again.

THANK GOD there were no DMQM promos this year. Probably the only thing that kept me from jumping to AA. Now if we can go a couple more years, week out the posers and get the elite program elite again, DL might have something.
