A couple of months ago, the agent at the LHR Star Alliance lounge wouldn't let me in with my US Airways Platinum card, claiming that I had to be Gold. She literally would not budge, and of course, this being England, did not speak English well enough to even understand the word "Platinum".

Finally, I remembered that CO had just switched to Star Alliance and pulled out my CO Gold card, which worked fine.
