FYI for DMs

Experienced a second time today that not all SkyTeam lounge personnel are familiar with Diamond status.

Here at Alitalia's MXP lounge, the lady at the door intended to turn me away because I was neither Platinum Elite nor SkyTeam Elite Plus. Polite persistence swayed her to look on another screen than the standard AZ one. There she found the listing for DM.

Glad entry was successful because the flight to FCO is delayed nearly an hout.

Your Diamond Medallion card says "SkyTeam Elite Plus" right on it. Granted, it's incredibly small but it's on there.

good to know...

thanks for the info ...

alas, why does it not surprise me? I have noticed issues with roll-out of new programs and access to clubs on partner airlines.

i guess the solution will be to just carry along a print-out of the DM conditions for a bit?

or, maybe this was just an isolated incident ... anyone else noticed this type of situation?

Yep, pointed that out, but as far as she knew the entire card was bogus.

skyteam elite plus should also be printed on your BP, thus eliminating any further disparities.

My boarding passes from a couple of weeks ago also had "Sky Club" on it...

This is Alitalia we're talking about here.

But "SkyClub" does you no good at SkyTeam lounges that have no affiliation with SkyClubs. STE+ does.

I thought the boarding pass also had Diamond Medallion/ST Elite + printed on it by your SM#

On DL boarding passes, sure...

But not necessarily on AZ, AF, KL, SU, etc.

Yep. Who ever heard of DM. There IS no Diamond status. No one airline has it. ;)

Familiarity with rules is often inadequate. Skyteam should try to remedy that. Partner lounges sometimes make up their own rules or misinterpret the rules they are given.

Ding!

FWIW, the AF lounge at MXP is usually quieter. The AZ people normally will suggest going there for precisely that reason.

On AF/KL it does, but it is listed directly underneath the "Carte d'Embarqument" wording

That depends. I've found that when I'm on an award ticket, they include neither my SM# or any sort of indication that I'm STE+.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8330/4.5.0.175 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

It also depends on where you get your BPs printed--for me, it is usually at the Bag Drop. Also, it depends on whether the printers are AF or rather a different handling company (I.2. Groundforce)... But, most times, a quick visit to the TDesk will clear the confusion...
