Another end of the year question.

Got 70k MQM. Got 49.9K charged on my Amex Delta Platinum. Want to roll over as many miles as I can for next year (I live in Atlanta and don't care about Platinum).

If I wait till 12/31 and charge something on my Amex, will they give me Platinum this year or roll over the 20 MQM plus another 10 MQM for Amex when the bureaucracy catches up with it?

Many thanks if anyone has an opinion they would share.

My experience as well as anecdotal evidence would say that if you go over the 50K threshold this year the MQMs will post this for this year. This is true even if you wait until 12/31. The unfortunate thing is you lose 10K MQM/Miles if you don't, but you lose 15K of rollover if you do. You can try it and see if you luck into an early 2010 posting date. Worst case scenario you become PM.

Update....

Well, I decided to go for the 50K and see what happened. I bought a camera New Year's Eve and it put me over the 50K. My billing period just ended and the 10K MQM was credited back to December 31st. I expect Sunday morning I'll be platinum and only rollover 5K in miles.

In other words, scassett had it exactly right.
