Amex Virgin Atlantic CC from BoA
Hi folks,
Did a search but came up blanks. What are people's thoughts on the AMEX branded VX credit card from Bank of America? I'm pretty happy with my Starwood card, but this one offer 1.5 mile for every 1 dollar spent, which is a nice earn rate. 20k upfront bonus and 15k on first anniversary. 2 tier points for every month spend tops 5k. No disclosure on annual fee. . .
TIA

The annual fee is $90, disclosed here...
https://wwwa.applyonlinenow.com/USCC...disclosure&cp=
The foreign transaction fee is 1%, versus 2.7% if using SPG American Express. You would need to spend $2,650 abroad to save enough to offset the higher annual fee.
The tier point crediting is more flexible than it sounds. You receive 1 point per $2,500 spend, up to two points per month, but this is cumulative. You can spend $2,000 + $4,000 + $4,000 and receive 0 + 2 + 2 tier points.
The website displays the details of pending transactions, which I find useful.
The card is made of matte black plastic, similar to Citi Chariman card. These cards are prone to chipping at the edges which could snag the fabric of a wallet card slot, but does not interfere with transactions.

VX or VS?
value is driven by frequency of flying VX routes.

I have never flown on Virgin America, because they do not serve Miami. I do fly Virgin Atlantic a few times per year between Miami and London.
