Not as strong of a % bonus as we've seen in the past, but at least this Avianca one is stronger than what we've seen from other cards. The % structure by tier really does continue to point to them devaluing the tier system for all but Bilt Platinum, as it did last month as well.

Bonuses since last year are clearly getting weaker
I'm moving a lot of my spend over to the US Bank Smartly card. But this one won't last forever either. Then on to the next one . . . |
smartly is much weaker for travel sadly…

Is 40% bonus to Avianca (Bilt Silver) worth it? Currently I don't have any Lifemiles and about 10k Bilt points. TIA

Ordered dinner for one decently-sized group of people on Saturday...and didn't even get the full complement of double points. The 1k cap is much more restrictive than I'd initially given it credit for.

When we launched the Bilt Card four years ago, we set out to solve a problem most of us face—how to turn our biggest expense, housing, into meaningful rewards. It was a bold idea, but thanks to you, it’s grown into one of the largest co-brand card programs in the country and has won countless awards, including readers' choice for the Best No Annual Fee card.
Along the way, I’ve heard from so many of you. Whether through emails sent to me directly, posts on Reddit, comments on social media, or conversations with our customer service team, your feedback has shaped what the Bilt Card is today. As I mentioned in my end-of-year note, we're now laying the foundation for Bilt Card 2.0. While we work on this next step, I want to share some thoughts on what’s shaping our creative process—and get your input on potential card value propositions. Your feedback will directly shape what comes next. Over the next 48 hours, you will be getting a survey from Bilt around Bilt Card 2.0. If you can find a few minutes, I would really appreciate your feedback! Here are some of the key things we’ve been focused on as we build the next iteration:

This was sandwiched inside that message. My speculation is that Bilt might introduce a fee for rent/housing payments that is only waived with the unspecified broader engagement noted above. What that looks like is anyone's guess.

I wonder if they'll raise the number of times you have to use the card? Or a combination of number of uses + total amount spent? Spare me the "it's a significant cost to the program" BS, because it's also your top value proposition. I can use any card to pay rent if I have to pay a fee, the lack of a 3% fee is what sets you apart.

I would certainly not get any of the annual fee options. Frankly, I think both of the no-fee versions are downgrades of the current version, for my spending habits.

i do see the value for no annual fee option a if C1 move their quicksilver and venture cards over to the discover network. not so sure about the rest because bilt fitness and walgreens credits are pretty useless. priority pass too.
there are also other ways to drive spending and lower cost, e.g. have a minimum spend (or minimum spend for each of the 5 transactions, or minimum spend per category), expand offerings like chase trifecta, bonus category for something less common like online shopping, reduce rent day promos there is a group of us who will optimize points earning by using different cards, but there is also a big group that will just use the same few cards. so what bilt needs is to give these people a reason to put bilt near the top of their list. bilt has to find that reason, but copying other cards isnt the solution. |
