Mine did not take that long but it was several hours. I'd probably not do it to get an award unless I didn't mind if the points were there anyway.

I've had some Hyatt transfers complete almost immediately and some take about 48 hours.

Uh oh. That's how I mostly use to use the points. Thanks for the anecdote/warning.

Just coming on here to rant about customer service at BILT. I've had multiple issues just in the first week, and it seems impossible to get people to actually correspond with you on the BILT (vs Wells Fargo) side if you have issues with rent or incorrect rewards. I've had them reach out to me after a first ticket, but when I respond I never hear back.
It's not worth 50k points per year IMO. I might even close my account once my points clear this month. (Of course once it's all working properly then maybe it's worth keeping but IDK... customer service matters when there are issues.) |
Sorry if this has been answered before ... I rent a condo unit directly from the owners and currently pay them using my bank's bill pay portal, which allows me to input their routing & account number and transfer money directly into their account. I see that the Bilt card can give you the account & routing numbers for your account so your landlord can pull from them, but is there an option to "push" a payment to a routing & account number? I'm not seeing that there is in the FAQs but wanted to be sure.

For the 5x first 5 day bonus, would making a rent payment through ACH count for that, or would it have to strictly be a charge to the credit card?

I have a life insurance payment coming up (about $5K), and I was wondering if I can get Bilt to make the payment. The insurance company only accepts payment through bank or check. So I was hoping similar to how Bilt sends the check for non-supported rental properties, would they do the same bill pay to an insurance company? I have seen people paying for utilities with it so trying to understand the full benefits of it.

I really don't think so. From what I understand, they are very strict about the applicable categories and they watch pretty carefully for use outside of their stated terms.

With the latest app update, Bilt is now showing a summary of points earn YTD by category. What is interesting is that one of the categories-- Groceries-- is one that currently does not receive any bonus points. I'm wondering if something is in the works. Though, if that is the case, I would suspect it's a partnership with a specific company where bonus points are earned, rather than groceries in general. (For example, Rideshare is one of the categories that now shows up, but bonus points are only given on Lyft rides. Same with the category of Fitness, where bonus points are applicable to SoulCycle only.) I wouldn't be surprised if it's a partnership with Instacart or another grocery delivery service.

Agreed. Especially considering the high amount that OP is considering paying and the fact that a manual check has to be cut. I would think an ACH payment that goes through the blockers Bilt has set up is less likely to be flagged for manual review vs a check cut for a large amount.
