Current welcome offer is 50,000 30,000 Crystal points with $5,000 $3,000 spending in the first 90 days. First annual fee not waived. (as of telephone call with bank employee 8/7/2019)

Past bonuses were:

***** #1502 - signup bonus 1/16/18 BUT ANNUAL FEE NOT WAIVED ******

100,000 points after spending $5,000 in first three months. Offer expires 30 December 2015. EXPIRED

A 70,000 points offer was offered back in March 2017 and expired March 31st, 2017. EXPIRED

The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.

Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.

The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.
Register separately for the award page (www.cnbrewards.com).
Register for Visa Infinite info and access at https://myvisainfinite.com/cnb/en_us/home.html
Click "my info" to see details on points awarded.
Best* redemption found to date is $1,000 prepaid visa for 105K pts. It's now 125K pts for a $1,000 prepaid visa. Link to catalog
*(other than spending for flights etc. & getting 1.2 cents each in value)

Tried award ticket with WN, $77.32 did NOT get refunded while $62.74 got. So the limit is below $77.xx now for WN.

Attempted to buy 2 AA $250 cards 11/13/18 (AUs). Both went through, but actually retrieving the codes failed. Called AA and apparently one transaction was blocked and the other automatically refunded. Nonetheless, a $250 credit posted 11/21 for it. So refund tricks still (may?) work.

This is very interesting. Did the charge actually post to your account and then reversed? or the transaction just sort of fell through before it actually posted but you still got the credit?

The other elephant in the room is that AA gift cards are not like Visa GC (practically cash). I can see and understand if they wouldn't apply the credit for such transaction. However, why would they block the transaction itself? is there anything else here in play that you may have forgotten to add?

AA used to block certain states' residents from purchasing AA GC. I remember NJ was one of them. He/She could be from a state banned by AA.

To be clear, the second transaction was apparently blocked as a duplicate by AA, not the bank. I'm not sure how, since the card numbers/names of the payers were obviously different, but the recipient in both cases was me so perhaps that's it. In any case, it never appeared on my statement. The first transaction was charged and posted before being refunded by AA. The gift card phone rep was very vague on the reasons for the refund, but my sense is that for some reason it triggered a fraud tripwire. The charge itself posted to my statement, and then a corresponding credit from AA appeared a few days later - along with a separate $250 credit from CNB marked as "travel credit". It was definitely from that transaction, as those are the only $250 purchases I've made.

I'll report back if there's a clawback, though.

After getting scared because of the recent posts of AA credits not working I'm happy to report that my 2 transactions got refunded. I did an initial test of $100 on one AU card, which got refunded and then did a followup of $250 on a second AU card and that just got refunded as well.

Same exact thing just happened to me. Let's see if there is a clawback.

Has anyone gotten AA points purchase to trigger the reimbursement? AA’s the only the airline to process points purchases directly and presumably it shows up as a misc. fee.
I am wondering if you are an in state resident for where you applied. I am wondering if they would take my app when I am on a trip where there is a branch, with no presence in my state. Do you think you presented anything special that you think made the rep want to sign you up (IKR, everyone would say yes to that). Just wondering for when it’s my turn.

Yes, I do live here by MSP as my profile states. Not sure what luck anyone's had as a non-resident, but it couldn't hurt to ask.

Most of the app criteria DP’s I have seen are pretty speculative. Your experience is probably the most recent published one I have seen. I will keep watching. Thanks!

I lived in NC and applied in NYC when on a trip, got approved. Residence seems not a problem.

But I am still waiting for my travel rebate of $250 for purchasing a single AA giftcard. It has been almost a month. I will wait till my first statement.

Got approved two weeks ago. Bought an $250 american e-gc yesterday. I've been putting some regular spend here and there on my primary card so I will update you guys if I get the credit. In the meantime I'm going to spread out some spend on the AU cards before trying to purchase another e-gc
