Current welcome offer is 50,000 30,000 Crystal points with $5,000 $3,000 spending in the first 90 days. First annual fee not waived. (as of telephone call with bank employee 8/7/2019)

Past bonuses were:

***** #1502 - signup bonus 1/16/18 BUT ANNUAL FEE NOT WAIVED ******

100,000 points after spending $5,000 in first three months. Offer expires 30 December 2015. EXPIRED

A 70,000 points offer was offered back in March 2017 and expired March 31st, 2017. EXPIRED

The requirements for the application process varies from bank to bank based on various online data points collected from FlyerTalk, Doctor of Credit, etc.

Some banks require that you go into a branch and apply personally. Other banks want you to have another account open for 90 days before you can get this card. Some banks (if you already have a relationship with them) let you apply via mail. Sometimes you have to be a resident of the state they operate in, while some were able to get the card without living in those states. It is very much YMMV. You will need proof of income (W2, check stubs, etc). The only states City National Bank operates in are: NY, DE (only trust office, no go), DC, GA, TN, MN, NV & CA. The bank is looking for high net worth individuals, but that's not exactly consistent either.

The card has no foreign transactions fees and is fee-free the first year, then $400 annually.

Register your card for online access (cno.cnb.com). This changed on Sept 19 2019.
Register separately for the award page (www.cnbrewards.com).
Register for Visa Infinite info and access at https://myvisainfinite.com/cnb/en_us/home.html
Click "my info" to see details on points awarded.
Best* redemption found to date is $1,000 prepaid visa for 105K pts. It's now 125K pts for a $1,000 prepaid visa. Link to catalog

Yup. Maybe if I bought way more groceries than I do...

There too I end up putting most of my spending on Amex EDP. Sometimes I feel that the product managers running these credit card programs don't really know what competition is offering. Essentially, what CNB is offering is a high end Discover or City 2% cash back cards and they want high spending customers who travel a lot for this card. You will get high spending customers, just that they want spend on this card.

I am very pleased with the current CNB Crystal benefits package. When I first saw the lounge credit announcement I was afraid that it was replacing the airline incidentals credit.

Agreed, I really like the benefits on this card, though I do wish the points could be redeemed to offset charges to the card at say 1.25cpp

Is there any sign up bonus right now?

Anyone know the timeline for signup bonus posting? I've met the spending for a couple weeks now, haven't got the signup bonus.

My banker quoted me 15. I did not test it (all my AUs are adults).

In general, the merchant controls the posting time, not the card issuer.

My renewal is coming up in a couple weeks and I'm really torn on whether to renew or not. I have been surprised by how much I used CLEAR (they are at almost all the airports I fly out of) but that benefit is gone. United's Gift Registry seems permanently unavailable. United no longer offers Gogo on its planes (at least none of the flights I've taken this past year). I already have a United Club Card (can you tell that I'm shackled to United?), although I'm curious about maybe ditching that and using the new lounge credit to pay for that instead. I've used the Priority Pass benefit a few times as well as the $100 Visa discount.

The Gift Registry is really what made this card pay for itself. Are there any other ways to, um, leverage that incidentals credit with United (other than, you know, incidentals which I never have)?

They might reimburse super cheap tickets (i.e. $40-50). So in theory you could try buying a very cheap ticket and then canceling it within 24 hours, but ask for a voucher instead of a refund to the original form of payment. Would be a pretty significant PITA though, especially if you had to get an agent involved (I forget if you can get a voucher for online cancellation). Sounds more like it’s probably not the card for you.

Edit: I should also note that to fully use the credit you’d have to do this many times (especially if you have AUs too). Eventually there is some risk on the UA side that they come after your miles/status because you are “purchasing with the intent to cancel.”
