Datapoints:
There is a $90 AF and one cannot earn the 90K in one year unless one does $25K spending.
Best way to add to initial purchase bonus of 20K is to add AUs (and quite a few of them, too!).

data point

applied for VA 90k card and got pending, called today and approved

Alaskan Air personal and 6 other cards approved in last 6 months and two denied (Barclay US Air #3, citibank biz #2)

No reason given for no instant approval but called Spanish recon line and was told that it had already been approved within 24 hours of application

Too bad there's a foreign transaction fee, now makes me re-think if I want to apply for it..

Just catching up on the $12k/$15k/$25k spend news...

Anyone met the bigger thresholds and received the extra bonuses of 7.5k & 7.5k miles? I checked the terms tonight after meeting the $12k to see if it was worth it and it says:

"7,500 anniversary Flying Club miles will be posted to your Flying Club account when you spend a minimum of $15,000 in Net Purchases within the anniversary year with your card. An additional 7,500 anniversary Flying Club miles will be awarded when you spend $25,000 in Net Purchases within the anniversary year with your card. Earned Anniversary Flying Club miles will be posted to your Flying Club account each year within four to six weeks of the anniversary of your card’s open date."

That leads me to believe you won't get the bonuses for the 15k/25k spend for a year... a lot less appealing b/c if I drain the account now, I'll have a worthless amount in a year. Any other thoughts or data points?

I only spent the $12k. I'm not sure if I'll go for the extra $3k since I'm not even sure if I'll be keeping the card past a year. I currently have a couple of cards to work on for the minimum spending, but once those are done I might do the $3k on this card.

I think everyone's assumption is right, that the 7,500 bonus miles won't post until the year anniversary.

The good thing about this card is that it earns 1.5 points for every dollar spent. You can take your points and book an award seat with Delta. This card actually earns .5 more points than any Delta card on general purchases.

Definitely better than a Delta card, but...that's not saying too much

I'm going to spend a little more to get me to an even 95,000 miles. Looks and sounds nice, opens up award availabilities, and worst case scenario, can be transferred into 142,500 Hilton HHonors points which is over a month in Egypt @:-)
**EDIT - Transfers to Hilton are min 10k points and in increments of 10k, so that may not work... Transfers to IHG are min 10k, but increments of 5k, fyi...

Has anyone tried the Virgin Concierge service that is offered complimentary with the card by BofA? I called the number a few times in the letter I received after card opening and the concierge service does not have my account number. So they transferred me to BofA. The CSR at bofa went through the benefits, realized that concierge service was offered with the card and then called the Concierge again saying that I had the benefits. This whole process took 20 minutes and I was told that I will have to go through this 20 minute rigmarole each time I call to request concierge service.

Approved today and tried to expedite the card to purchase upper class airfare asap (4 seats left). I was told they couldn't overnight because I had to receive and accept the welcome kit with the "terms" before I got the card. This seems strange since I accepted them digitally when I applied for the card. Anyone had success with this?

That is strange. I got the card along with the welcome kit and T&C. But it took close to 10 days after I applied digitally.

I have a stupid question, whats with the Spanish Line? is it easier to get approved through it.

Gary says you don't even have to close the existing card b4 reapplying. Anyone have any experience to add?

Can anyone else confirm this? Want to apply again, don't want to waste a pull...not sure if I should close first.

I also still have this card and applied for it 6 months ago. Did you close the old card before applying for the new one?

Churn away, I'm on my third. I've always closed to avoid a second annual fee, but not sure if you have to.
