I wonder if this would fly with a credit card application.

If pretending that this is revenue makes you feel better, then go for it, but if you're dealing with one of the few issuers that asks for "proof" from time to time (especially Amex) this explanation is not going to fly.

Revenue is money brought in from goods or services sold. You aren't selling goods or services when buying something with a credit card, you are buying them--and incurring costs, not bringing in revenue.

In what way would buying anything with a credit card be considered revenue?

You can say whatever you want, but on their own, purchases are not revenue for the purchaser

I'm very sure the IRS won't mind so long as you pay taxes on your "revenue." Honest, I've had three business cards approved with "0" included on the form for revenue. Why bother making representations that might later come back to haunt you?

Under what definition is this even remotely "revenue"? It is "expenses" for your business and "revenue" for the seller.

That's pretty funny. Charging your credit card = generating revenue? Sure, makes perfect sense.
