Some of us still earn Delta miles with this card or may want information about past or grandfathered terms and conditions.

Please do not spread panic about miles not posting until after the 10th of each month.
In most cases, miles post in the evening on the 5th of each month if it's a business day, or else the evening of the next business day. "Miles post for purchases made between (inclusive) 5th day of prior month to 4th day of current month."

I am considering this card solely for the purpose of making quarterly federal estimated income tax payments. I have searched this thread and learned that tax payments using this card do or should earn SkyPesos. My payments could vary from $5K to $20K. Does anybody have experience making these payment, and if so what were those experiences? The card and account would have little to no other activity. Thanks in advance.

I paid both Federal and NY State taxes with my ST card and both earned Skymiles. I had to use two different vendors; one was $3.49 and the other $6.95.

True on the ST side maybe (I can't say for sure) but many local and state taxing authorities (or their agents) don't have discounts for debit cards. They charge the same as credit cards.

No love for me. Got through the verification stage and when going to the funding stage an error occurred and it said I would have to log in and fund the account. There was obviously no way for me to log in. I received an email saying the account had been approved and after funding I would receive a welcome package. The last four numbers of the account were displayed. I live in California and have an address issue. We do not receive mail at our physical address and the USPS does not recognize the physical address. We have to use the physical address for verification and credit check purposes. We then change the address to our P O Box. When I called today to straighten out the issues I found that I was SOL. Note on my profile that I could not have a relationship with Sun Trust, EVER! No reason, no appeal, nada. Oh well.

Perhaps, you can call back and a different agent might shed some light on why you were denied. Sometimes, they deny you when they are unable to verify you but if you send them some documentation, it can be approved.

    Terrible Experience

I opened a ST checking account with the purpose of using their debit card to pay income tax (both 2012 due and 2013 estimated) and garner Delta Skymiles. I opened the account online. I linked the account to another checking account successfully. The transfer of the initial $100 to fund the account was successful. Meantime I'm getting welcome emails and materials as appropriate. I went to transfer $3000 to ST to park the cash and avoid monthly fees. The $3k was successully taken from the other checking account but never posted in my ST account. Shortly thereafter the fraud department at ST closed my ST account because I do not live in their service area (I live in WI). It would be great if their online application process screened this. The $100 was returned to me via check. The $3000 took 6 weeks (as ST claimed they didn't receive it, though it was out of the other bank) and MANY phone calls to get my money back. I rue the day I embraced this idea. Alls well that end's well, I'm just out hours of my time...

I do it electronically. But if you have a smart phone, I think they have an app that lets you take a photo of a check.

I am getting significantly lower miles (~1000-2000) miles lower every month for the last 3 months. Has anybody else noticed this?

The purchases I am counting are either mentioned as 'POINT OF SALE DEBIT' or 'CHECK CARD PURCHASES'. Not sure why they won't count

I have no idea how they calculate the miles! My miles, too, are always off by 1K to 2K. But I don't plan on bringing it to anyones attention at ST or DL.

I use the SunTrust smartphone app on my Android phone. You take a picture of the front and back of the check and it gets deposited electronically. I also deposit some checks by SunTrust ATM - no deposit slips are used. Why would you waste time and money sending your checks in by snail mail?
