Does anyone have any experiences with a ConnectMiles credit card?

I have applied for a Visa from BancoGeneral. Upon applying I learned that while their website clearly shows a requirement of a monthly salary of at least $2,500 for the "Signature" card, in fact the value is $10,000. It doesn't give me great faith in the program as their own website is erroneous. But, that's not unusual for Panama.

I got the Bac black version. Still spending on it to get the 20 000 miles. My wife will probably apply for Banco General version before December 31.

To get a banco general credit card you need to have had a bank account open for at least 6 months. Maybe next year.

I got my card from Banco General a few weeks ago, and my 15k bonus miles showed up in my ConnectMiles account. My purchases on that card are also showing up. So, at least that's working.

Signing up for the ConnectMiles card offered a free "acompaante" ticket. I got mine via email several weeks after receiving the card. The certificate had to be redeemed before Dec 31, valid for travel through most of 2016. And, you can only redeem it at a Copa Airlines sales office in Panama, using a print out of the email.

Unfortunately, I received the email in mid-Dec just one day before leaving for the rest of the year. No chance to invent a trip for me and my wife then get to a ticket office to seal the deal. So, we called Copa, and asked if we could do such a thing at the Copa ticket counter in the airport, where we'd be the next day. The phone agent said yes.

Well, the Copa counter agents the next day refused to touch it, including lengthy calls to superiors, so that got wadded up and tossed in the trash. Too bad, as it was probably the most generous benefit of signing up for the card. Observing the counter agent, I wondered if they didn't know how to deal with it, or they were obeying the simple rules posted at the bottom about it only being redeemable at a sales office. I wonder if I should have photoshopped that clause out of the printed email.

A new companion offer
Got this email recently:
Your companion ticket certificate from your credit card ConnectMiles from Banco General, is now available.

Book and fly on Copa Airlines with a companion from September 1, 2016 to August 31, 2017 and pay $99.00* for the companion ticket, when you buy your round trip ticket in economy class, subject to availability starting at $295.00*.
I wonder if they recognized I didn't use the free one I described above. I doubt it.. I also got an email advertising 20% off redeeming ConnectMiles. Combined with the recent offers for easier Prefer Member qualifications, they seem to be stepping up their marketing.

I just realized I paid $194 for my ConnectMiles card from Banco General in 2016. It has a $110 membership fee, plus monthly fees and seguros. I did earn about 50k miles, so I guess it's worth it.
