One could argue the dishonest consumer is losing more often than the honest consumer in this case, when examined solely on an entry count basis.

I'm amazed how long people held onto these.

The old non-expiring passes were a basic B&W copy with no extra effort required to fake them. I never did, but it wouldn't have been hard if I wanted to. CO gave plenty of notice and expired the old ones. It was years ago at this point. Such is life.

I'd feel a little badly if the OP bought them on EBay expecting them to be valid, but only a little bit as it has been so long...
