Minimum time for interline of baggage?
Aloha:
Recently completed CO#15 EWR-HNL and was refused interline of checked bags to HA interisland flight. Reason given was not enough connect time. I had an hour, redcoat said I needed 75 minutes. Previously have done this interline / connect in HNL a bazillion times with no problem, often with a 45 minute connection.
So, anybody know if there is an official time limit I can refer to? I have checked the May 08 contracts of carriage, but it is not in there. If the rules have changed I need to know it for future bookings.
FWIW, I made my interisland connection to HA even with collecting bags off CO carousel, dragging them down to Interisland terminal, and re-clearing secuity.
But, what a hassle...

The Redcoat is correct. The minimum connecting time in HNL from CO to HA is 75 minutes.
These times are corrected from time to time, so that you might have had a shorter connecting time in the past.

That doesn't make sense. They say they need 75 minutes to interline but expect you to collect your bags and re-check them instead? Or are they saying the connection can't be done; interline or collect and check?

But I would like to know in advance what the rules are, since they changed them on me without notice. Its not a nice surprise.
Again, is there an official time limit for legal interline of baggage?
Is it the same for every airport?
Where or how can I get this info in advance of booking a flight?

There is an official minimum connecting time for all airports and airlines, for both domestic and international connections. The airlines have this information and you can contact Reservations for this information.
The purpose of these times is to insure that your bags and you have enough time to make your next flight. Should this fail, the airline is then responsible for rebooking you and taking care of your expenses (not during weather issues) and delivering your bags to you.

1 hour per HA, 75 for CO, NW
Contacted HA and was told the minimum from them in HNL is 1 hour to connect and interline bags to CO and NW.
Contacted NW and the minimum in HNL was 75 minutes to interline from NW to HA.
So it will depend on your direction and which airline you use...
