Out of curiosity... has anyone repriced an itinerary that they've previously upgraded using miles?
I've purchased a K-class ticket in December and used miles for BF upgrade, if a fare class opens up later that makes it worthwhile to reprice/reticket, would that even be possible? Assuming F class was no longer available, would I lose the upgrade (as I suspect)? Or would they let me keep it and charge the difference in the service fee for the new fare class?

I am surprised that prices have stayed as low as they are for so long...

Well I for one did get a price drop in a ticket from OKC-IAH-DEN this past week. I hadnt booked and when I finally did I found that I would be saving 100. That was nice on top of the travel voucher I had to get me additional dollars off. Keep checking you never know.

RosemaryNJ, if you ever return to this thread to update us on your travel plans:
have you given any thought to my earlier suggestion of flying from Washington area airports? If so, I found some bus information for you. Take a look at website of this fairly new company: boltbus.com
Ticket from NY to WAS cost as low as $10 1-way, travel time ~ 4 hrs
They do not sell tix for December yet.
There is Rewards program: get 1-way ticket free after 8 paid 1-ways.

And BlotBus is just a new name; the busses have the Greyhound name painted on them pretty prominently.

It takes nowhere near an hour to get from Union Station to DCA - 20-25 minutes at most, depending on which route you take. Even during even rush hour, it would take less than an hour. Also, the Metro only takes 30 minutes (two stops to Gallery Place, then six stops to DCA).

Either way, you're still doubling your total travel time and that seems silly to save $100.

I've taken buses overnight in China that were great ideas because A) I was going to be asleep anyway, and saved on hotel B) It was a lot cheaper than flying ($60 vs $200+) C) everything was on my own dime, and I found out just before leaving that I would have to move and find a more expensive apartment and D) even with 3 day advance, air tickets are a lot more work to reserve than a walk up for the next bus (this applies to Chinatown buses, but I'm not sure about Bolt...)

I am booking a flight from EWR to PBI on Dec. 10 (Wed)and return on Jan 7(WEd). Last year I got this flight for $145 roundtrip but I bought only 3 weeks ahead of flight going from EWR to PBI. Now I am looking and the cost is $230. Do the prices ever go down. I am just wondering if I should wait till closer to the date to see if price goes down. Any suggestions?
However the industry is probably going to reduce capacity by 10-15% in the forth quarter so that $109 might increase to $129 and the possible sale fare might be $109.

The cheif of BA was quoted in the Straits Times of Singapore this morning that he expects LCC's such as EasyJet and Ryanair to go out of biz in the next couple of years...

Yes. Prices do go down. It just doesn't seem to happen very often.

If you are traveling at night, you may need to wait 20 minutes for the next train if you just miss the last one. Miss the connection plus add travel times, 1 hour is not out of range and maybe not enough. I have spend over an hour going from DCA (blue) to Clarendon (orange) - less stops than to Union Station - in the evening. Hence I always take a cab.

If you want to get a sense for what airfares cost, then a great website is www.farecast.com -- they track airfares across airlines and you can see if you are getting a good value for the route/timeframe you are going.
