Smile Discounts & Coupon Codes

Does anyone know of any discount or coupon codes for Continental Airlines (online website) for domestic travel in April 2008? I want to go from Newark to Los Angeles around April 16-17 returning around April 21. I am a one-pass member. Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions?

I dont know of any "discount" coupons for continental travel in co.com other than the 5% discount for one year in all your co.com purchases when you sign up for the CO Chase credit card.

The only thing I can think of, "legally," is a Chase offer; whether it be a debit card or Mastercard offer that usually gives a percentage off. However, a quick search showed decent fares out of the NY metro area to the Los Angeles area. EWR-LAX was $318 plus tax, however if you are willing to go into SNA out of LGA or JFK it's only $258. That's not terrible for transcon right now.

Just crossed my mind. I'm not sure of your elite status, but your EUA chance's are better out of LGA or JFK connecting in IAH or CLE anyway.

The Chase offer is dead for new subscriptions apparently, so that one is gone, too.

Welcome to FlyerTalk, mrjersee, but CO doesn't really offer codes for discounts and hasn't for a long time. Individual routes occasionally go on sale, but even that doesn't happen all that often.

What about the discounts?

I have seen discount coupons being sold on Ebay for up to $100, or actually $20 per ticket out of Newark. At least at that price I wouldn't have to drive to JFK or LGA. I always thought those were "free" and now I see people selling them? I guess they have a discount code in them. Any thoughts?

Yeah, some of those discounts are "free" to those people with a chase credit card. Or those people who have been inconvenienced by having a delayed flight or bumped. Besides doing one of those things or buying it on ebay, there aren't really other options.

I'd also be careful about bidding on those certificates that offer discounts for $100 off $400 or more, $50 off of X or $25 off of X. They usually require you to purchase such a high fare class that it isn't worth it.

not only they require higher fare tickets but they may also track back who the coupon was mailed to in the first place. It is illegal to sell those coupons.

Even if xfers were legal I don't think they can be used from hub cities as well. IMHO those coupons are worthless.

I'm looking at one of the ones I got the other day...transferable/non-extendable. But its only a $20 discount from hubs. Requires a sat stay.

I've never used mine. I did get a $99 companion coupon once that came in handy.

I just tried to sign up but got an error message. Do other folks recommend the program, and does it work like Chase with you putting ONEPASS in when you book?
Also, are some fares not eligible for the discount. They don't say so.
