Do we have any idea when this will go live in the "real" world, or even the bonus miles purchase / elite maximizer portion?

Will it be after Oct 1, or after Jan 1?

ensensens Aug 30, 2010 12:16 pm

EQPs?

Any idea if we get any EQPs with the purchased EQMs?

The preview email site suggested it would be live on 11 September or thereabouts.

Rats! And I had just booked elsewhere via last week! (Might be worth the change fee, but it is a different site. Can we add if booked from Site X? )

I would assume so. You actually buy the extras after making the reservation, not during the initial booking process. If you have access to the preview site now just go in and view the reservation you made elsewhere and you should see the option.

Just to make it official:

Dear Vulcan,

Thank you for your feedback.

The EQMs like the RDMs will post as soon as they are purchased; so although your ticket is for 2011, the EQMs would post in 2010 if you bought them in 2010.

Will it work on code-share bookings or just on CO (and maybe UA)?
e.g., IAH-LAX-SYD/MEL w/ UA over the water?
or IAH-LAX-AKL-PER w/ NZ over the water?

Maybe I should split the question into asking about
a. Double or Triple "bonus" miles (RDM)
vs. b. Elite Maximizer miles (EQM)

UPDATE 9/8: Per http://www.continental.com/web/en-US...020ECC0938531F, you CAN'T check in online for Australia. So with no Preview site access, I couldn't check in for the life of me, even with CO code-shares or changes. They thought it was a UA problem, but I wouldn't be surprised if was the "except Australia" check-in rule:

"Reservations with any of the following characteristics are currently not eligible for check-in on continental.com:
* Certain special service requests that require you to see a Continental representative at the airport.
* Any paper ticketed reservations.
* Travel to Australia. "

Bummer - that was almost 20K toward Plat renewal I could have used.
The "regular" check-in site for an Asia and/or Air Mike itinerary only goes up to 10K purchase (and $270 + $600 at that for 10,000 RDM + 10,000 EQM) = 8.7 cents per mile now. You folks who got in when E/M was 4 cents (e.g. 8/26-31), and not 6 cents like now (9/8), lucked out if you had wanted to purchase last week.

-----------------

From Vulcan's post above, a 2011 trip booked this year might top you out for 2010 w/ EQM... Hmmm, nice.

One last question - ...if you have to cancel or reroute (CO sched change, or your own change), what happens to the immediately-posted miles of either type?

Considering they post immediately and are non-refundable...

That's one (very expensive) way to get elite status.

all depends. I'll be at 74891 after end of my current trip, with (maybe) another that push me over 100k. (and should be over 75k, except for a jal flight=0 miles and a codeshare ua flight booked as b but credited as h, which is probably borderline fraud, considering the reservation receipt shows B).
I'm considering doing this for a short flight, to get the 200 miles. 500 miles at ~8cpm=$40 or less. Plat is worth that, right? Book y class fare, buy bonus, refund fare. What am I missing?

Hi Everyone, for those of you who sent private messages to me requesting continental.com Preview access, you may now log in to preview.continental.com.

I believe most of the questions have been answered up to this point, except for this one:

Hi ensensens, the EQM purchase only includes the Elite Qualification Miles, not the Points (EQPs).

Did it raise the price on this itin for the EQMs?

I also had an offer for 30K miles but the EQM price went from $1,200 to $1,800 recently.
