Just got the news earlier this afternoon that I didn't get the job :(

So sorry that the news wasn't better. Hoping that a traveling job comes your way shortly.

Let me guess, a blonde. ;)

It would have to be a Southern California Blonde.

Ladies of the Box. What would you say is the best flower(s) to receive for Valentines day? I personally think classic red roses are unimaginative so I'm looking for better options.

I'm not sure whether I should feel offended by this or not... :D

Plus1. Looks like I'll be wanting to arrange a similar acquisition/delivery.

^ I am SO glad I'm not the only person who feels this way!! :)

If you/the recipient like roses, a multicolored bouquet can be very pretty...also, a combination of roses and lilies (either the white kind or the pink tigerlilies) would be cool.

Or tulips, maybe - combination red/pink or red/pink/white? (assuming you want to go with traditional colors - if not, the sky's the limit)

Gerbera daisies are modern, punchy, and fun.

As you can tell, I like clean, strong designs with bright, punchy colors...but there are many other looks that are perfectly nice. I also know very little about floriculture in general. :p

ETA: I wish I knew more about/appreciated flowers properly. Seriously, I've never been attached to them...but then again, I've never been all that into Valentine's Day as a whole. I don't need an excuse to wear pink or make cookies. :)

OMG - that is so funny. I read it out to Mr.Brit while he was drinking his tea and he almost choked!

Well, it's a personal thing really. I'm not a "rose" person. I think they're a total waste of money. I prefer things like daisies, freesias, and prettier more colorful flowers. But, that's just me. Most people I know like roses.

I appreciate the classics and would never turn down red roses;), but mwg25's suggestion of tulips is also ^ in my book for something slightly different.

^ I love the colorful, pretty flowers. Roses are beatufiul, but boring!

For my wedding flowers, I went against the grain and had lots of wild flowers. In my bouquet I had yellow roses and Queens Anne Lace (which is technically a weed). I showed my wedding photos to a secretary at my workplace and she shrieked "Oh my God, you had WEEDS at your wedding".

Women who go nuts over flowers are fine. It's the ones that are addicted to sparkly rocks that worry me. :-:

I love getting carnations. They smell wonderful and last forever.

One of the better gifts I got on Valentine's Day was a pair of cotton mens pj's from my mother. They said Knights of Love on them.

You certainly have a good reason to be worried. :D
