As I mentioned before, I think Step 3 is a problem.

Indeed it is. AmEx doesn't allow a payment to it in the form of a card-based transaction. You have to enter bank routing info and not a debit card number.

I just had to cancel my Hyatt MR. Why might you ask? Well, there's this little thing called my vehicle, which has 189,000+ miles and I've affirmed in the past that if the clutch and/or transmission has a major issue, the car is done. Today might be that day.

Afternoon box,

A few sundry items, quite unrelated.

1) Let me add my condolences to Trustguy.

2) I saw Goodnight Moon discussed upthread. Apologies if this was posted and I missed it: http://www.goodnightkeithmoon.com/

3)WWTBD? for a quick trip to Telluride, taking two days off work:

a) PIT-DEN-MTJ on UA Wed evening, with a return at 6am Sunday morning, meaning leaving Telluride at 4am. on the upside -- extra day of skiiing -- downside, all RJ travel on E-170s and CRJs and that wakeup on Sunday

b) PIT-IAH-MTJ on CO Thurs am, return Sunday afternoon. All mainline, will sit in exit rows with chance of upgrade. Interestingly, plat status will drop to silver exactly 4 days before the outbound, so I could get a 5 day window upgrade, or be at the bottom of the list. Return will be Silver, but I can still prebook the exit row anyway.

The Drobo's have some serious issues with recovery when you have a drive fail.

I just picked up one of these and have yet to set it up.

But it did a get a number of good reviews and the fact that it uses full size was a plus for the performance.

Will you purchase a new car and a good used car?

I thought the light on the side of the Drobo turns red if a drive is going  and then attempts to get all of the data off of the bad one.

If you want the extra time, the E170 is not a bad jet. If the CRJ is a shorter leg then I say more is more, but that's just me.

I got it home and will jack it up later - going to walk to the main facility and pick up some free dinner tickets (completely unrelated) I was offered first. Some of you may recall this car was $7,000 new in 1998 and has been totaled once - this is indeed the same car that has a 1997 front end I purchased from a junkyard and installed myself after someone didn't stop before entering the highway.

As it was 4:00 eastern by the time I had all my applications running, I'll probably be looking to "unshort" oil and selling more BZ tomorrow to free up some funds.

I'll see if it's something I can diagnose first. If irreparable, depending upon advertised specials (I don't deal with automobile dealers well at all), maybe a new car but possibly a rental until I can contemplate - with office hours M-Th, I wouldn't even need a rental until Monday. I have an O'Reilly Auto Parts, Napa, as well as Ford and Honda dealers within walking distance (really live in historic downtown).

Get a meat thermometer and never guess again. They're pretty cheap too, no need for that fancy digital stuff. :-:

I like the E70s / E75s - in coach, seat 3B/5B owns on SkyTeam USA (probably 3B on a UA E70).

Despite having online billing and automatic debit payments I got an email from PSE&G imploring me to sign up for this 'green' service. Best part of the email (emphasis theirs):

Both services are safe and secure and free of charge.
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes: :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
I should cancel my e-bill and payments out of spite. :-:
