Maybe they will have a huge batch of frosty beer to sell this week, they can call it 'truly frost brewed in Shiner, TX' :D

Norton doesn't want to die quietly. The uninstall process hung and I had to restart it. Too bad when I restarted it that it didn't let me go into the screen that lets you tell Symantec why you're getting rid of it. I skipped that screen the first time around and I regret such.

This is NOT abnormal. I think they design the uninstaller to crash or something.

Back in the Win98/ME/Early XP days, you literally could not totally rid your computer of Symantec software. It embedded itself so deep that removing it would delete a few system files and cause Windows not to load anymore. The only way to get rid of it was to flatten and reinstall. It was the personification and definition of .

I thought he was doing EWR - SEA today? I know he and The Wizard were talking about it.

The one thing I fail to comprehend is that while uninstalling a bunch of stuff on her laptop, her WiFi connection up and died...profiles and everything disappeared, and I wasn't touching anything related to the wireless card or anything. Post-Norton reboot not done yet, so we'll see if this persists into a problem that will occupy me after lunch...reboot done, perfect connectivity. <shrug>

Told fiancee where I was going for lunch, got tasked with walking around teh corner and getting her engagement ring steamed...jeweler is less than a block from the restaurant.

What version/type of Norton was running? Norton Internet Security (arguably the worst of the worst) includes a firewall and some sort of QoS monitor that attaches itself to network adapters, including WiFi. As such, when you remove it, it may wholesale kill the connection and supporting software in the process. This is what we're talking about when we say it's a b!tch to get rid of that crap.

It's Internet Security 2009. The connection came back after reboot but the uninstaller is still running. I have about two more minutes to play with this otherwise I risk missing the correct choo-choo to get me into Philly.

For those of you so inclined, Sparkfun.com is having a sale today where the first 1000 users get $100 toward anything on the site. I suggest setting up an account and cart before the offer goes live at 11AM EST.

Yeah, go catch the train and come back to it. It will likely take a while longer.

Never heard of them - anything worth trying to get?

The site seems to be offline right now, so no luck in setting up an account...
