I did get a few nice photos of the AF / SkyTeam E+ Lounge at IAD.

Good morning and merry Christmas all. We just returned from the lovely 4 Points where we crashed after much wine and celebration last night. Now it is off to dad's place across town again. This is a real holiday living out of the car this year.

Drove by the new Westin in Reston (say that a few times quickly) earlier today; the city seems to have changed a bit since I moved in 2003.

And there are at least four staff members at this Lounge - I've been the only one here since I arrived 35 minutes ago.

Pretty nice spread - sandwiches, grapes, vegetables, cheese / crackers, fruit, soda, juice, Utz chips (something I don't get in TN), and beverages.

If you are flying DL or NW domestic, can it be accessed with a SkyClub membership card, Priority Pass, or any of the Amex products?

It can be entered as international BizElite or SkyTeam Elite Plus on an international itinerary; cannot be entered as a SC member. Don't know about the others. Signs at check-in simply note that there's no SkyClub at IAD now (with no other detail).

On the ground in Egypt. Time to emigrate and officially get my 6th continent. :D

Congrats! ^

I just had the most amazing meal of my life. Started with mezes, plenty of local vino, some kebap, and finished off with some sort of pancaky thingy topped with globs of sweet butter. Never had a Kebap like that. It was more like a Turkish taco. :D ^ :-:

We decided it's time that we opened the 'bar'.:D Cheers, Box.

Fiancee coming to get me from PHL. Told her what terminal to go to and she replies "I know. I followed you on FlightStats."

She's learning...:D

^^

I got some pictures of the "lounge" that is used for domestic flights on MS. It is not pretty at all. Picture a 20' x 40' room with about 25 seats and a couple tables. The "snacks" are pretty pathetic. And no booze (though that is not a surprise since they are a dry carrier). Pretty cool coffee machine, but they couldn't print my BPs for me. I had to go back out to the front counter for that.

I'm very much looking forward to using the real international lounge in 5 days when we pass back through. I believe ALCO will be there tomorrow.

A very encouraging sign indeed!

Yep. I'm knocking back Caipirinhas while I still can. Tomorrow's not gonna be pretty. Wish TK had a properly timed IST-CAI. Instead, I'm going to be alcohol free for IST-CAI-JNB. Blessed be Ambien. :-:

This side seats about 60, with a few nooks, two televisions, etc. WiFi seems to be for ANA customers only unless one pays.

Weather is deteriorating at IAD. CIGs are not much over 100 feet if my estimate is correct.

I just had to show the nice bartender how to make a Crown and Coke, so you have a comparative WIN.
