no dvd burner at home?! I am surprised! BTW if you are downloading from MSDN site, since they have been doing direct downloads without need of the MS FTM it has been corrupt about 50-60% of the time for me. Never had an issue with file transfer manager, and it did a verify checksum at the end.

No need for one at home when I always had access elsewhere. Turns out that I both found the 4GB USB stick and the new computer came with a DVD burner (Duh!). I copied the ISO over to the new system, burned the disc and then overwrote the OS. Server2008 install was incredibly fast, as is the boot time.

I also borrowed a DVD burner from the office in case I needed to install it in my old machine to burn the disc.

Main problem now is that it seems the CPU doesn't support Hyper-V. That may have been a tactical mistake in my planning. I need to figure out what virtual machines, if any, I can run on this thing and to do it quickly.

I could have used some Chicken McNuggets in my teaching days, if only to throw at students in the back row. Mostly I made jokes that went over their heads.

Certainly plenty of  but at least they actually did the work. I'm not entirely certain why, but they did it eventually.

While I was known at American to assign a grade of U- (yes, unsatisfactory minus*), the students aren't at risk of losing more than 25 points on a 25 point assignment.

* U- was my shorthand for "student didn't even try".

Just turned it on and I am reminded of a cousin of mine...you can take the kid out of the Bronx but not the Bronx out of the kid.

The sad part is that if these girls were not such vapid whores, they might be cute.

Chicken McNuggets were used as an example of a pricing scheme that says a lot about the price / income elasticity of subsets of consumers.

I actually thanked the student for the analysis but had already explained the grade penalty.
