This is why this group is so cool -- I doubt many of the boards could sustain this type of stream of consciousness. I wish there were more west-coasters....

Among other things, I have had Boxers down my way to play golf, we have held Box-only dinners, some of us have flown MR's together, and about a half dozen of us were on the Star MegaDo. I met many of the regulars here for the first time in person at CO Do IV. Randy Petersen himself complimented The Box while we were all in FRA, saying that the lounge thread thing doesn't work everywhere but we have made it succeed. The level of connection as a group is part of the reason it works so well.

Mike, I think you may have brought a tear to my eye...

:p :D

I actually like the place and i'm game for anything there. It's just hard catching up with folks.

Would the upstairs banquet room afford a bit of privacy?

With the PHL-TLV route being an obvious shot at CO's EWR-TLV cash cow, I would think that even US management is smart enough to manage the assets for the route correctly. If it were me, and that third 332 had to be doing something and not just sitting in a hangar, I put it on hub-hub CLT runs. That way in case the 332 scheduled for the longhaul takes a dump, the spare is never that far away and still making money.

Of course, if their 762's can fly the mission, then my whole point is rendered moot. I didn't think they could.

DL and others have a lounge thread, but The Box is so awesome that we have poached a regular DL flyer from their lounge thread. (Come to think of it, I was personally responsible for that at CO Do IV.)

Unfortunately, you won't run across too many people of the Pacific Time persuasion here given the airline forum itself. The majority of the crowd is CO hub-centric, within 100 miles. colpuck is SEA-based for now, Mackieman used to be in SAN, and fozz splits his time between the coasts. And of course, our resident angel sfogate. That's about all I can think of as far as regulars who live out that way.

If you think the online version is fun, just wait. When we all get together, the restaurants really should put seat belts on the chairs. :p

Then you will do just fine here. The importance of drinking in this group can never be understated. Several Boxers hopped an early-morning bus from NYC to DC this summer to meet up at Union Station. One of that group made a thermos of Bloody Marys for everyone. I rest my case.
