The MIL is in Boston right now visiting my wifes sister with one of her friends. She is obsessed with B&B's (I think they are weird) but she called yesterday and said the place was a dump and that they are moving to a hotel after fighting to get their money back but they couldn't find a hotel that had availability through Sunday so they had to hop. Today I decided to look at the place she is staying at in NYC. Its The Leo House in Chelsea and after I saw it was max $100 a night and they had shared bathrooms for the cheaper rooms I thought hostel (gross). I go check the place out and it is DISGUSTING so I called wife who called her mom and she said that she has read the reviews and she thinks it will be fine and they will give it a shot. I also told her I would allow her to use my points + her cash for a room at SPG.

My wifes mother is a B* and thinks she is always right. She is also a bible thumper and the Leo House has "catholic ambiance" with a Chapel next door with daily mass which is probably why she "trusts" them so much. I'm beyond pissed that I have gone out of my way more than once to try and help but she refuses to listen to anyone. I have made it clear to my wife that I will not be picking her up on Sunday at the bus stop, attending dinner (which she always makes us go dutch, if I have to pay for my own dinner Id rather not eat with her listing to her bi*** about literally everything), and I will NOT help in booking another hotel.

Seriously, the best thing to do is let it go. At the end of the day she is the MIL and you're stuck with her. While you should stand up for yourself, don't make your wifes life too difficult.

For the hotel, if they complain, just tell them you're busy and you warned them. As for dinner, might I suggest eating ahead of time and just having water and bread so you don't have to chip in? :D
