I see IB has been playing with the DB again. I think we'd have a more reliable site if a couple of high school geeks ran it.

I think Brach's might still make them. They are usually found in grocery stores or drug stores. Jelly Bellys are made here in California, just north of San Francisco. If you visit their factory you can buy their seconds, called Belly Flops.

I feel your pain. I'm in the South Bay and went to four different places and couldn't find regular jelly beans. I finally found, stuffed in the back, a few bags of Brachs jelly beans at Target in Newark.

There's a knock-off about 7 minutes from my house. I've seen the menu and it isn't very Japenese. Now the is the real Japenese place less than 5 minutes away. Maybe I should go there for lunch one of these days. It use to have a real properly trained sushi chef but he retired.

Have you ever been to Shogun 27, 22 or 18? I always prefer those over Benihana. If you go to 27, a few of the chefs will make a "garlic sauce" to accomponay the mustard and ginger sauce. It's minced garlic, onions and ginger sauce grilled with soy sauce and served as a dipping sauce. Just thinking about it is making me hungry.

Good night box - exhausted after that post-to-1K run. :D

I knew there were more Shoguns in the area! The name sounded familiar but the 27 didn't fit. I've driven past Shogun 22 but have never stopped in.

Somewhere in TX? There are none in AUS.

There should be one in Austin unless they've closed it recently. It's up by Research, but it's one of the worst Benihanas i've been to. You've been warned.

Many of those good restaurants are expensive. Plue people I know seem to only want crap like Fridays.

I found the knock-off place by me. Check out the "Japanese" names on the video. (NOT) http://www.shogun27.com/

I guess you have been there so you can ignore my other question. Shogun 22 cracks me up as there is a "fire" every few years and they have to close it for a few months.

On a different note, the gf is on her way out to SFO for the weekend. As she was at the airport, I got a call about how long the line was and how she had to wait. She then started telling me how she's stuck in coach. At least she's starting to understand the perks of status, but I think i'm in trouble.

Yeah, there are three of them. I personally think 27 is the best but they are all pretty good.

Mini Do? :)

I drive by there once in a while and it never looks open. I wanted to go for lunch once on a weekend and pulled in, but didn't see any cars so we turned around and left.

Haha! Yes! This seems to be the trend for several establishments along 22 in Green Brook - shady stuff.

27 is better than 18 but I have never been to 22. As fozz said, it quite frequently appears to be closed.

What's with the numbers?

Over here in Koreatown in L.A., within a mile where I live there are Pho 21, 36, 55, 87, 2000 and 4000. Within 10 miles or so, there are 8, 22, 54, 77, 79, 97, 99 and so on. Serious. I wonder what's the reason behind it.

And when I was living in Houston, I noticed the Pho places have names that mean "rocket", "plane", "cannons", "train", and so on...

Very strange.

18, 22 and 27 are the route #s that these restaurants are on.

Has anyone seen Jimmy Fallon's late night show? Wow, it's terrible!

I kind of feel bad for him...
