So much for geekery - the rain killed my plans to go spot at PHL. I really want to get shots of the LH A343 and the AF A330 that come in.

Rain? What's that?

It hasn't rained in quite some time. I hope the snow packs can hold us through the summer.

Meh. I'll just stay in and do Princess/Cunard sales courses under the fiancee's account. Or I could start on that FEMA thing that icurhere2 recommended. I downloaded the courses at home, but not here.

This sucks.

Well, congrats on the match, but not on the location. That really stinks. And it is a multi-year deal, right? Any hope for an alternate?

5 Years... and I can't practice law in Louisiana. Dunno what possible transfer options might be. I know she's there for at least a year, and I'm here for at least one more. Can't transfer schools now, as I've amassed too many credits. AFAIK, there aren't any law schools in SHV, anyhow.

Am searching for the glass half full. Am sure it's there somewhere.

You'll still be able to travel at will after the wedding?

Further UA nonsense:

Meant to post this earlier -- one of my SYD-SFO flights got in late and I missconnected to my HNL leg. Went to the RCC to ask for a $7 food voucher (wanted a cup of soup) and they said no but urged me to call the 1k desk.

Call the 1k desk, told me I needed to do it at the airport but as a goodwill gesture they sent me a $350 ecert.

A $350 voucher and all I wanted was $7 for a cup of soup.

Not sure if I should hate or love UA.

I would keep that voucher (and write a calendar reminder) to book a trip a trip "shortly after October 24th" (e.g. early 2010).

How big? Perhaps on the front license plate holder (like those who have European tags) where legal? I know from experience it's OK in TN, not quite legal (e.g. a big fine) in MD ...

Never follow one of my recommendations, especially during March Madness. No need to do all the courses - one can cherry-pick.

SHV is just across from Texas. You could have an office at that TA Travel Center on the Texas side of the border :D

your specialty could be in gambling ummm........payout claims.....blame the casino for breaking me......and what else..divorce!

Hello all,

I've been lurking here for a little while but haven't taken the plunge into posting . . .

However, since I'm currently sitting here in the B84 basement of IAH, at the 3.5-hour mark of a layover (between PHL and BTR) that was supposed to last 2 hours and is now looking like 4.5 and counting, it seemed like as good a time as any.

I never associated white-out fog with TEXAS, of all places!

Hope there's room for one more in here. :)

Gulf coast cities...

That is the answer, lots of fog, swamps out just to the east the fog is downright horrible. Even up to Alexandria, LA the fogs can just overwhelm you. I was driving I10 and hit I49 one time thinking I'd get out of it sooner, it followed me almost till SHV. The worst thing about the fog is people that turn their lights off 'because it is daytime' and you come up on them going 35mph and you are going 55, can't see them till the last second.
