I think we've established I'm up for any trip as long as the price is manageable and/or I have VDB credits to burn. Witness the following trips to (and escapes from) NJ:

Central NJ Mini Do - VDB credit for not flying on a CR2
Hockey Do - WN credit bought for pennies on eBay, got a VDB on the way home
Footie Do - SkyTeam USA VDB credit out, UA VDB credit back

But you endured the CR2 on the way up IIRC. I remember checking NWA Mobile and feeling sorry over the thought.

862 miles of CR2 (MEM-PHL), not that I was traumatized. The former HP CRJ I had MEM-PHX (when my CO MEM-SMF run went pear-shaped) was even more

I also got a $150 travel credit on the trip back from Footie Do, if you want to be precise.

They were doing Glenlivet tastings at my local store last week. I thought that was rather odd stuff

You did spend quite a few hours in transit as I recall:)

I tried Jameson for the first and only time in the duty free area of SNN. The Irish can keep that crap.

I spent two hours of the morning walking back and forth from a UA RCC to the gate, then did spend 6 hours in the IAD LH Lounge. Frustrating but I've had worse days - traveling with a laptop and netbook, life doesn't get too bad.

FWIW, my advice would be for him, as an entry level i-banker, to look to minimize his commute and day-to-day hassles for the first year. Using a day or two, staying in town, do the commute to each neighborhood from his building, imagining rain, slush and darkness. Walk the neighborhoods to find the mix of shops and markets that appeal. And, as someone else mentioned, add the East Side near to work to the equation.

After he survives the first year (which will just fly past for him), there's plenty of time, and by then first hand experience, to optimize where he can most see himself at home for a longer pull.

I'm going to try to be more strategic tomorrow, attempting to SDC onto flights with marginally better potential. :-:

CO must have peed in UA's cornflakes. UA is hitting all the CO hubs with discount fares to Asia.

I was just about to comment on this. :-:

Correction: UA hasn't attacked the fortress hublet yet.
