In other news, I'm officially an unofficial Hilton Diamond. I just called their customer service (who I have to commend, was phenomenally nice and helpful) and they said that although I've now completed the Diamond fast-track, until Hampton posts my stay for last night I won't be a Diamond. My stays the next two nights at Hiltons will continue to treat me as the generalisimo that I am.

Wow, I'm surprised they wouldn't go ahead and bump you up, given that the stay requirement was pending. :td:

Hilton Diamond is about as useful and lucrative as Hoteles Barcelo Platnio

Good morning, Box.

The guy who won American Id:rolleyes:l last night is from the suburb immediately adjacent to where I live. Fireworks were shot off for a while, apparently. I thought it was just more thunder.

Other useless trivia about this suburb (Mt. Prospect):
1) Jake and Elwood give it a shout-out in The Blues Brothers (the source of the Bluesmobile is the Mt. Prospect PD)
2) Jennifer Morrison (the actress who played Dr. Cameron on "House") is a native of Mt. Prospect.

I concure, although I will stay in lower end properties for the value.

Agreed. However, SPG, Hyatt and Accor have sufficient reach these days at the lower end of their property choices that I'm generally covered just about anywhere. I don't often need to spend the night in backwater pits of Redneckistan, so access to every Hampton Inn under the sun isn't really a priority.

I was there last weekend and would recommend the city pass. I feel that if you do four of the items you make it worthwhile.

Very cool!! I have only seen it in pictures and from a distance last week at IAH!

Can I get some crystal ball action on Flight #407 tomorrow? ;)

I usually opt for Modern Beekeeper or Semi-Nude Spelunking Journal when in the President's Club. We must do our part to support the Obscure and Puzzling Publisher's Clearinghouse during this time of economic turmoil.

I usually stay in one or two Hiltons per year, at most. I dropped from Gold to Generalissimo two or three years ago. I don't even bother checking my account to see how many (or few, as the case may be) points I have there. This year, the vast majority of my stays have been at Hyatts. I don't think I've had a single Starwood stay ytd, either. Should be dropping to Marriott Silver this year, also.

Last month's issue was quite titillating.

Cool!^

Local trivia here:

* Anne Hathaway grew up here & went to my kids' HS;
* Norbert Leo Butz (B'way & screen actor) lives nearby & goes to my church (along with a bunch of other theatre stars) & his wife, Michelle, was in the original cast of 'Wicked';
* Zach Braff ('Scrubs') grew up in the next town; his dad is a judge in NJ;
* One of my friends' nephew is one of the duo who originated the show 'How I Met Your Mother';

I was very close to ejecting out of Marriott over to SPG but the 36 nights in CLL this summer should push me over the requal edge. 2011 will bring another summer in CLL so I will hopefully make it there as well, but in 2012, SPG may start looking mighty good again.

I'm liking shifting Hyatt to my secondary program. I still intend to keep SPG as my primary. The points are too valuable, and they keep nice hotels in tons of interesting locales.

The Aquarium is a must see for ATL, if you have not been there already.
