I know nothing of which you speak. I speak COBOL.

When I started college, I remember being speechless that the school had tons of packages of MicroFocus sitting around yet they were still making us do our programming on the beast.

After much lobbying, i managed to convince them it was time to get off the beast and it was so much nicer.

Ahhh, gopher. I still remember bringing up my first college onto the internet. With a whopping 19.2K link.

Gopher? Do you remember archie?

I do remember Archie and also a 300 baud acoustic coupler, thermal paper, and being one of the first people to search Medline! Was awful to have to take a training class on learning how to search!

For a while I used to run the archie server at Rutgers.

Acoustic coupler. I remember almost getting a GE acoustic coupler modem.

I told them just send me home ($300 and no hotel). Rebook entire trip for late June. "clack clack clack" from teh keyboard. A chuckle and agent said they had all they needed. Oh well. Off to SEA.

Sounds like the stuff we've been throwing out for the past few weeks. An IBM 5150 PC and a Macintosh II among the antiques.

Later taters.

Probably explains why one co-worker came from Rutgers!
I'm even worse because I used to key-punch stuff, then did mag tape to a PDP-11 conversion.
Prior to that I sent telegrams
Prior to that I delivered mail

I'm also not 100 years old!

I was the first person in my college class that had a computer at home (Mac+) so talk about impressing the professors!

Almost thought we were going to have an old fashion VAX vs. VMS arugement here (simular to Ford pickup vs. Dodge pickup argument)

Still still need to get tired.

I think VAX vs VMS thoughts would put me to sleep. Then don't even get me going about MACCS.
