Alas, just a line from a Talking Heads song, but if I ever do a MR you'll be the first person I call! :)

Talking Heads is another mid-80's concert score for me.

In other news, best man secured. Light restored in the kitchen. Grad school research underway for what will be the path I'm taking. (I'm not joking about the last part. Dinner yielded a productive discussion and a decision.)

Cool!^

Only one but it's in the very opening group tomorrow morning.

Indeed. We were supposed to have the other couple here instead of going out, but the kitchen light fixture pooped the bed last night.

And I finally got off the pot and decided to stay in my vertical. It would be phenomenally stupid of me to start over with almost 7 years of dealing with people under my belt. The search is on for a graduate degree in hospitality that will hopefully lead to some kind of customer experience/relationship management type of work. I'm tired of taking guest complaints that I can do nothing about, but it's entirely different if I can be the one to shape the experience.

Tonight I cleared my first upgrade since October 2009: IAH-SFO tomorrow evening. No luck on PHL-IAH; I'm still 0-for-a-lot on that route.

Aloft or Element at BWI
Never stayed at either brand

Never stayed at Element. Aloft is totally fine for an airport hotel - minimalist-trendy, free internet, not a lot of space in the room, absolutely consistent from property to property. I'd definitely take it over something like a 4P.

Yes, it does. I assume you're at the Crowne Plaza? When I was there with my choir last month, people way underestimated food totals for lunch at the competition venue and when we returned to the hotel with a bunch of hungry kids, indeed there was NOTHING to be had at any reasonable distance and I had to apologize and ask them to stick it out till the evening. :(

Just finished 10 miles on the bike - need to shower and get some sleep.

FINALLY got outside to do some riding today, and it was gorgeous. My new-to-me bike is so much better than my old one, though (being a pure road bike) has absolutely no suspension. We were on a lot of really bad bumpy roads today. Owwww.

Oooohhh, exciting! @:-)

My concert went well. Somehow these things always get pulled together. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be up for the better part of the night doing laundry, packing, and finishing the grading I didn't do for the last two days when I was running around, stressing about going to SYD (I did end up canceling, alas - no fun but it's definitely under the heading of a "good decision"), buying a ton of flights for various summer weddings and other events, etc. It's going to be a painful one. :(

As the one Plat on my team (I was the TN-based captain with 3 Diamonds), I was the only one not at the 12,500 cap per person. I did put in almost 8,200 miles though.

Hey -- are you thinking to come out for the FootieDO next month?

Yep - sub-$60 weekday last-minute rate and it's almost the end of the fiscal year with the State government. Don't want to be stuck with a total above my authorization out of pocket ...

I've been hitting the elliptical due to heavy travel, heavy pollen, stench of receded floodwaters down the hill from my home, etc.

Still a challenge - there's a separate event in Maryland I've attended six consecutive years the same weekend ... I have booked neither event as of the moment.

It will be fun and will also be a Hyatt-rich weekend. ^
