Ehh. Consumer apathy seems to be on the decline, and corporations are starting to listen when people gripe. CO knows what makes people pick them over others, and UA knows the same set of facts for themselves. It makes good business sense to hold on to those respective parts and create a Delta-killer.

But having your hometown airline completely wiped off the map isn't a good thing either.

UA abandoned CLE and let CO come in. CLE has been dumped once before. CLE, no offense to those who may  at this, is a glorified focus city as it is. It will have some sort of place in a merged CO/UA since ORD would go bat$hit crazy if it had to absorb CLE's throughput.

Thank god.

I think we'll be seeing a UA/CO announcement soon.

How quickly before US runs to AA after that?

How quickly before WN shoots US in the back of the head after that?

UA shoots back at WN and replaces three regional CHI-LGA frequencies with mainline, and there's got to be some contract that UA got with the U.S. Navy - IAD/ORD-PNS?

Are you planning to consolidate now that the new job doesn't have as much travel?

G' day Box- today is 'take your  to work day.' Me and my trough o' salad are stationed away from the madness.

It's on my wishlist.

The B&N reviews seem to call it more of a leadership book. It also has a section on the post-1549 life, the sudden celebrity, etc. Probably still worth a read even if it's light on the stick-and-rudder geekery. Nothing below four stars on a five scale, and some of the reviews also indicate a narrative of how Sully got there, meaning there's got to be pre-commercial flying anecdotes.

Good Day Box,

I took this cool pic during my recent flight from CLE to LAS.
Thought I would share :)

And this, as we crossed paths with another airliner

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_fAdSfNAGwww/S9...0/IMG_2716.JPG

Btw, on this same trip I saw another plane flying in the opposite direction. But this time, it was so close to us, I cloud clearly see that it was another CO 737  Is that too close? My best guess, it was at most 1/4 mile away.

The distance was likely further than that. But at cruise, they pack them in tight, with only 1000ft of vertical separation required.

After reading through the first few pages, that is my take as well. I'm just looking for some light reading, so I'll probably give it a shot as the first book purchase on my iPad.
