I believe the A319 has one too. I remember using one last Friday, and I flew an A320 and A319 on the way home.

Yep, that's mostly a feature of the F lav on the A-320 family. I was on a A-319 last Thursday and it had that handle.

I think some level of social/economic planning in a society of 7 Billion people is preferable to complete anarchy, and generally inevitable, as humans seem to constitute a self-organizing system in large numbers (and even in smaller groups). Political arguments tend to be over the process/system of organization, and arguing over what that happy medium is, rather than whether we should be organized at all (the anarchist viewpoint, which I don't find credible).

I am pretty sure that the ultimate happy medium is simply listening to me. baglady, however, begs to differ.

I do not touch a thing in the lavs. There is no way I use that handle.
I have a napkin to shield me fingers from any unwanted germs.

I'm outing myself as just old.

This was on WLIW, the Long Island PBS station a couple years ago. My TIVO recorded it. Sad commentary on my life, but it was an excellent program nonetheless.

When you're standing there and the plane starts bouncing around, you'll grab anything you can. A few potential germs can be washed off your hand far more easily than you can clean up a misplaced yellow stream down the leg of your pants. Trust me. I know such things.
