Well -- I only had to experience that twice -- so not so messed up -- just stretch marks!;):D

Feel much more civilized after a shower. Have a slow bathroom sink drain so I'm going on an errand run (Dollar Tree for drain cleaner, Walgreens to spend my $19 in Walgreens cash, Kroger for beer).

Watch this. Yes, it's in German -- but it's easy to understand what's going on. The manufacturer of the machine is operating it and the guest demonstrates (starting at about 2:10) how it misses all sorts of things, including a bullet, some thermite, etc. Near the end they go outside for a little demonstration using the concealed items. 0:37-0:49: "let's try it and see if it works"

0:53-1:07: they expect to see a cell phone and a swiss army knife

1:14-1:24: they identify the cell phone

1:30-1:53: a side view is necessary to see the knife

1:50-1:53: "what else can we see?"

1:58-2:07: they find the microphone

2:10-2:11: cuts back in to "yes, many things"

2:13-2:15: i'm not sure what that is

2:17-2:27: reveals canister of thermite, explains what thermite is

2:27-2:32: "you had all this in your pocket? did you see this [on the scanner]?"

2:33-2:54: reveals a plaster cast for concealing an explosive

2:55-2:57: "why didn't you see this?"

3:05-3:17: says that this is interesting and asks where the items were being carried.

4:03-4:14: reiterates that the test differed from an airport scenario (jacket, no profile scan, etc)

4:14-4:29: "nevertheless, some things, such as transport in the mouth, escape detection, yes?" 

4:56-5:25: admits it will not detect 100% of threats, but argues that that is irrelevant. the goal is to IMPROVE security

5:25-5:39: askas again what items he smuggled in

5:39-6:30: discussing explosives and thermite

6:30-7:34: further discussion of thermite, including metion that it is easy to acquire and the damage it can do

7:35-8:18: demonstration, mention of 3000 degree temperature

8:18+: absurdity of security procedures, bans on water bottles, yet thermite can be smuggled

We have Staples & OfficeMax in my areas. Sometimes that I can walk over there to Staples to get more new inks for my printer.
