I still haven't booked at anything other than low-tier, including the NRT 747 upper-deck ticket I still need to cancel - still hoping for a significant flight schedule change to avoid using a waiver ;)
I'm still holding out for redeeming at the lowest level on the three-tier award structure. I was able to do it once last year. I'm not redeeming my 50,000 or so DL miles until I can find something that isn't ridiculous. |

Quite possibly the stupidest rule/fee DL has for Plats.

When did Barrett-Jackson introduce a "crap we had laying around" auction division? An '82 Seville with 54K miles for $5K?

My first experience with getting free Internet as a SPG Platinum was a total bust. The not-so-great Baton Rouge Sheraton didn't remove the charges, then argued with me about it when I asked the front desk about it. I was already a little ticked I had to stop at the front desk and wait behind five other guests in line to check out and get a receipt, as this hotel no longer seems to be able to get a receipt placed under your door on your last night. Once it was finally my turn, the receipt had Internet on it. When I asked the guy working the desk about it, he argued with me and refused to take off the charges, and told me I was wrong and that nobody got free Internet unless it was included in your rate. As this is a business stay and my employer will reimburse the Internet charges, and I was already running late for work, I didn't waste the time to stick around and argue with this guy, or pull up the SPG site on my phone and show him the page that explains the benefit.
Anyway, as this is my last trip here, and I suspect that particular Sheraton is on the verge of being re-branded as something else (a few of the Sheraton logos around the property have recently been removed), I'm not going to worry about it too much. It's only $25, and it's being reimbursed regardless, and it wasn't worth the time and effort this morning to deal with getting a manager involved and proving my case. It was still a frustrating way to start the morning. |

My  client is making my last day on site with them quite possibly the most frustrating day I've had in two years of working with these people.
I am so ready to be out of here. Sadly this project is still months from being complete. But they have no money, my schedule is booked, and there's a high probability that they'll either be forced to temporarily mothball this implementation, or they'll proceed on their own, totally **** it up, and come October when they have a new round of Title III grant money available, we'll be called back in to help clean up the mess. In any case, I don't expect to be back on this campus again for a while, and that's a good feeling. Now if only 5:00 PM would hurry up and get here. |

On another note, I'm contemplating picking up a USB headset/microphone for improved quality when Skype-ing and the like. Looks like there are quite a few options in the $20-30 range. I don't need top of the line, but I don't know if I actually need to pay more than that to get sound quality that's appreciably better than my built-in laptop microphone and speakers. Anyone have any particular recommendations? |

Yeah, but that's significantly below the usual quality bar to get pushed across a B-J stage.

This gave me a laugh.
http://twitpic.com/1cf063 Sorry, DL, but doing things like pouring soup out of a thermos in your international premium service hardly qualifies as "elegant." And hearing the gate agents at DL repeatedly yell at people over the PA for not using the breezeway lane during breezeway boarding, or yelling at non-breezeway customers in the breezeway lane during non-breezeway boarding is hardly "gracious." And the chaotic baggage drop process at many DL counters (ATL, LAX, DCA, JFK, LGA, IAH just to name a few) qualifies as "customer service" in only the most basic form of that term. Sorry, still kind of burned by my last five or six trips with that airline. |

They all wear out and break with lots of use. Go with something that has a decently recognizable brand name and be done with it.

This is the one I have, which I use minus the USB dongle: http://www.plantronics.com/north_ame.../audio-480-usb I think I got it for $10 at a woot-like site. |
