You're assuming they even weather radar on the plane and that they didn't take it out and sell it operating cash, or give it away as a bribe to some rogue local official at an outstation holding passengers on the plane until a bribe has been paid.

By the way my one and only aborted takeoff was on a CO 727-100 with malfunctioning weather radar during the height of the Lorenzo years, post mega PeopleExpress/Frontier/New York Air mega-merger and while EA was self-destructing and its pilots were picketing at IAH and Texas Air HQ. Even CO, which flew a lot of rust buckets in those days collected from a variety of somewhat dubious origins and operated with questionable maintenance practices, had the sense not to take off in nasty May thunderstorms at IAH with a bad radar.

I've seen some rather impressive thunderstorm/lightning displays over the Amazon late at night. Waaaaay bigger storms with higher cloud-tops than I can ever recall seeing locally (even when skirting around or leaving in advance of a Hurricane). I've been comatose for all of my N-S Africa crossings, as well as my SFO-SYD-SFO flights, so didn't check out the window as we were in equatorial regions.

I tried to sleep through those portions of my LAX-SYD-LAX flights, although I do remember it being rather bumpy, and the captain saying "Seatbelts, please" quite a few times. BTW, I do like how UA handles that announcement on overnight flights. Short, sweet, and gets the point across, without disturbing your sleep with a long drawn out announcement.

Sorry to hear of your family's loss. It seems there has been a spate of sad news in The Box lately. Hopefully that trend is reversed through the rest of this year.

I'll start some happier news. I think I alluded to it a little while back when discussing office remodeling, but Mrs. bdj and I are expecting another little addition to the family in July. ^

BTW, for those interested in mass quantities of free music, some enterprising guy put together torrent downloads of everything at SXSW.

http://sites.google.com/site/sxswtorrent/2010

I've DL'ed the 2010 stuff at home, but haven't started listening yet. Almost 5.5GB of stuff.

There's also past years going back to 2005.

I am not looking forward to going to AUS on Friday morning; I have a feeling it's going to be a zoo.

Ya think?

I was going to drive up to try out this place but remembered what this weekend was and so I'll wait for the normal number of hipsters to return to AUS.

And I hate how UA deals with it. Turn on the light and move on. No need for the exta talking.

I've yet to be on a flight on any airline where that happens.

sue em, make them respond to a law suit.

I would also call the SD County Sherriff. There is lots of identify theft in SD because of it's proximity to the border and they have tons of folks handled to deal with it.

Just went outside, and it looks like at least 12 of our fish survived the winter, including one of the big koi. We put the net back over the pond yesterday, because the stupid heron is stalking our fish, and loves to fly off with them.

+1 to bdjohns1!

Good morning to you all... err.. good afternoon for my first 'box post of the day. You think the weather is nice in the northeast? Ha! Windows are open and the sun is shining. According to the little temperature thing on my computer, Houston is at 77 degrees right now. I took photog72 jr down to the medical center on the train. Mrs. photog72 was there working and took her lunch break to babysit while I had some skin removed to be biopsied. Hopefully, it's nothing major. Baby photog72 is taking a nap, and once she wakes up, time to go to the playground!

How many fish did you have before?
