That's what I read too. Unfortunately, it was the only seat open when I called yesterday.

There are usually a few seats held for airport control, but if you get a helpful agent sometimes they will release them in advance its worth a try. I was able to get 1K which was blocked two weeks ago before going to the airport. Setaguru gives if a marginal rating, but I like it because no one is reclining into you. There was no galley noise on my flight after dinner service.

I checked back today, and 3B had cleared - I took it!
Any preference btwn front and back cabin (777-200)? Seat Guru says front is quieter, but it's also larger...

Personally i like the second section, row 8 especially -
Many times the service for the secound section will start from there, and there is also no one to recline over you...
Galley nosie seems less of an issue then in row 1

I know nobody cares, but I thought I'd follow up on this with a few thoughts, now that I have flown my first BF flight (please note the alliterations in F and T as is proper to a FT forum).
Well, in TLV there was almost no line for check-in, and I was literelly alone at security, so my priority status wasn't that helpful. Most agents looked at me approach with a not so friendly eye, welcoming me with a "you're BF?". I guess that's because I'm 25 and not dressed in a suit. They probably thought I was in the wrong line.
(Btw, the new TLV Terminal is fantastic. Hadn't been there in three years, I was blown away).
Something not related to BF: I was asked at check-in if I had any liquid or gel in my bags. I didn't - great.
But then, I decided to buy 4 bottles of Recanati (merlot reserve, 2003) at the duty-free store (for the price of 3, as I was advised on this forum. This wine is amazing, and it ends up being 12.5$ a bottle with the deal, really cheap).
I was told (here also) TLV didn't really care what you carried, plus I assumed something sealed and bought in duty free wouldn't be a problem.
I was wrong. When asked during boarding what was in my bag, I said the truth, and had to catch a cart back to the store (with help from the GA) to get my money back. I had to run on the way back to the gate but I made it just in time.
When I finally boarded, noone checked that I had returned the bottles or what was in my bag. I could have easily hidden the bottles there, which really annoyed me. Once seated, a security agent asked me if I got my money back (how did he even know? Did he see me run? Was he informed by a GA?) but didn't check my bag either. I told him what I thought, and all I got was a mysterious (and very israeli): "That's not how it works here".
Oh well, I'll have to drink something else (or find a way to order it online/find it in NY).
OK, to the main part, BF: I'm not gonna say anything you guys already know, except that I was very pleased with everything, especially the seat and the service. A little dissapointed with the food. Yes it's better than in coach, but nothing compared to what I can get for $30 in a NY restaurant.
The good part was I was able to sleep 7 hours and get to work fresh in the morning (I never even was able to sleep 10 minutes before).
So, my rookie opinion: Will I ever spend thousands on BF, even transocean.? No. For me, 10 hours of luxury are not worth that much money. Will I spend 30k miles again? Probably, if I have to go to work.
Now the real question: how can I get this BF seat installed in my living room???
PS: I'm going to the US Open tonite, and on their website's map, there's a dot that reads: "Continental BF Seats". More on that tomorrow, I guess.

Looking forward to posting here...
...sometime next week! I'm losing my BF cherry Sunday night EWR-LGW, seat 3L.
Some people seem to say it's better if you're only taking it one way to do it on the return when you're awake, but to me being able to sleep all night and get to London refreshed and ready to go all day should be the best deal! We shall see...

Thanks for the update on BF. I agree with you that the food isn't good. It used to be a lot better, but recently it has deteriorated. I too agree that BF isn't worth the list price. I'd value it at about $2k--maybe a little more when I fly from LAX. The product is good, but no longer outstanding.
I am glad you had a great experience.

in TLV you get to use the Dan lounge when you're in BF. Its quite nice. If you're not connecting to anywhere else in the US, I doubt they are restricting liquids on TLV-EWR, so I recommend buying 4 bottles of Castel Grand Vin or Margalit or Yatir, if they're still doing buy 3 get one free at the duty free in TLV, they are all fantastic. I also recommend, if you like Diet Coke, to swipe a bunch of glass bottled diet coke from the Dan lounge. it tastes better than US DC.

Little known fact: Coke Zero is the same formula as Diet Coke in Europe and Israel. It's essentially Coke Classic with artificial sweetener, while the US version of Diet Coke is "New Coke" with artificial sweetener. (The New Coke formula was actually created for Diet Coke originally...it proved so popular they figured it would work for regular Coke...you know how that went.)

I grabbed a couple bottles at duty free in SJU last weekend and they delivered them to me at the boarding door. I popped them in my backpack and had no issues at SJU or EWR.

Its just a stupid policy and hopefully will be corrected.
I'm somewhat surprised TLV security is "enforcing" it.
