for a flight I'm taking I'm looking at the elite seats filled in economy and thinking my chances of upgrade are slim - BUT, maybe those aren't all elite pax?
and maybe I'll be upgraded for the 6 hr flight?

So this is really not fair, but I did snag exit row seats and it seems to save them. I just hope that if they fix this glitch, it doesn't throw me into a middle seat.

This evening I found that the elite seating problem discussed above may have been fixed. What I've found indicates it's also been changed from how it used to work. As an elite, logged into my own account, I can no longer assign my non-elite kids to elite seats when they are on their own reservation. This was with Firefox. IE won't load the seat selector at all. Has anyone else noticed this behaviour?

3 weeks ago, I purchased a ticket on co.com that had 2 ERJ-145 segments.
At the time of purchase, the exit row was restricted to Platinum Elites. There were other "premium" seats that I was unable to choose.
I put my Continental number in the reservation when I booked it. As far as Continental is concerned, I'm about a sliver above nobody.
I checked in online at the ~20 hour mark. I was then able to select the exit row on both segments.
At the airport, I swapped out my Continental number for my Delta number. No issues/attitude and I retained my exit row seats. My boarding passes now read "Elite", refelecting my Gold status with Delta.

I tried a few things since my previous post. I found that eventually IE did come up. It took a LONG time. I could then select elite seats for my kids. I also found that I could not do so for another traveler with no OP#. I got him a OP#, added it to his reservation, and then I could select elite seats for him. Thanks to the possibility of an EUA (EWR-MCO on a 753, chances are good!) I need to use multiple records. Argh!

Okay -- it looks like now I can't assign premium seats to anyone who is not elite traveling on his own record. This is the case with both Firefox and IE.

Okay... this evening I could do this again with IE but not with Firefox. I also discovered that one of the flights has its seating frozen right now. I expect to see an aircraft substitution very soon...

Had all of the above problems as well booking for my family to LGA. Had to use multiple records to see if I could get an upgrade and was unable to choose seats for my family who got the stink-shield seats
. Fortunately, I was in the PC Sunday and went and changed all the seats to exit row seats. At this time, I guess I will have to call the elite line to get my family's seat selections because I cannot do it on CO.com.
