CO.com Allows Anyone to Select Premium Sets

Don't know if this has been posted before or if it belongs in the new website thread, but I feel this topic needs urgent attention by CO. Currently anyone can select exit row and premium seats on Co.com. I see this as being a huge problem.

How did you determine this and in what scenario?

I just created a dummy booking, SFO-TLH while logged out of my OP account and was not able to select premium or exit row seats, only seats avail to general members.

With my computer (logged out of my OP account) I can select exit row seats for any reservation I pull, whether it is mine or a colleague's. Also, with a friend's computer pulling their reservation (so no CO cookie with my elite number) the premium seats are selectable. This is under the view/change reservations, not when booking a new ticket.

This belongs (and discussed heavily) in the website thread that has been sticky-ized by xyzzy (say that three times really fast)

Did it actually save the seats you selected.? I ask, because for a couple of days I could select premium bulkhead seats that are normally held for airport control, but once I clicked continue, it would revert to the orig seat assignment.

I searched it pretty thoroughly and did not find reference to this issue there. It does save the seats.

I bought a ticket this afternoon and didn't bother picking seats. I just went in 2 minutes ago and stole a couple of 12As on the ERJs. As a Gold, all I can say to the Plats of the world is ...sorry. :p
P.S. I rechecked and they stuck.

Its a free for all! It's anarchy! :D

I'm waiting for the $99 RT. Biz First EWR-HKG to pop up by mistake!

Plats are savvy enough not to be on RJs in the first place.

Unfortunately for plats (and everyone else), one often has no choice but to fly the jungle.....

I was able to get seats in the small private premium cabin on the 767-400 Hawaii version and I am not an elite either. I was very surprised Continental.com allowed me to do this, although I am not complaining ;) Maybe a bug in the new website?

Benjh Aug 10, 2006 2:58 pm

Same here, non-elite, but I was able to pick a premium seat for my EWR-TLV next week. I didn't confirm though, I'm too scared it will revert my selection later without me being aware of it. And if there's no aisle seat then, I'll be pissed :-)

How would you get from EWR to CLT?

kirker Aug 10, 2006 6:04 pm

It saves them. I switched myself into an exit row seat (for a flight tomorrow afternoon) when I first noticed this "quirk" on Sunday (and I think I was the first to point it out on the main website-problems thread), and just successfully checked myself in online with the same seat assignment.
