Does address affect offers?
Hello everyone,

Does your mailing address affect what promotional offers you get? I'm thinking that there would likely be a difference between offers given to "captured" FF'ers in CO hub cities vs. those in spoke cities vs. those at competitor hubs.

Any thoughts? Any anecdotal evidence? Does someone know of a previous thread on this subject?

Is there any advantage to having an address in Europe or Asia?

I'm not sure about CO but NW offers it's asian members significant advantages, This summer they simply gave elite status to anyone with a Asian address (I used an friends address in Japan), and club membership comes with Asian NW elite status as well.

Indeed, some mile promotions apply only to residents of specific geographies.

For example, when you join OnePass you'll get a sign-up bonus of 5,000 miles if your address is in France, Spain, Japan, Israel or Hong Kong. There's no such incentive for U.S. residents.

In addition, if you are an EU+Israel resident you get 200% EQM on BF fares.

My wife and I share an address.......I am an Infinite Platinum and she's barely silver. The offers that come in our mailbox from CO are targeted totally differently. EI: Ms. Customdirect was offered Mileathon whereas I could have really cashed in on it!!

My situation is quite similar, except that my wife is Platinum. Today I applied for the new 10,000 mile offer (59010, I think). I got it but my wife got an error message (three tries).

I am gold. My husband and son are silver. Only my husband got the 10,000 mile offer. We all have the same address.

The biggest flaw in CO's heavy overseas strategy is they get lots of outbound traffic from the USA, but overseas they are virtually unknown. Result: In the typical vacation travel, their Friday flights from US are packed, to US are not. Sunday is the opposite effect: Packed going home, empty going out. They need to offer incentives to get fereners in the habit of flying them in the opposite direction of their natural market in order to try to even out their loads and fill planes in the off-peak direction.
