The actual fare/availability results are not done by CO for their own flights or partners; a third party runs the booking engines. Additionally, the results are often cached to reduce queries.

This is true whether logged in as an elite or as a general member. Further confirmed because my reservation is allowing up to 3 more seats to be upgraded to with miles.

Edit:
More information. It seems that if I do a regular flight search it does come up as 0 for all four fare classes. However, if I click on the fare class from my reservation it lists 3 across the board. Weird.

It is possible that CO is providing additional Upgrade Availability to its Elite members (in which case, logging-out should make no difference, since your status would still be attached to your PNR).

I think the CO system upgrade is a more likely hypothesis at this point. My non-status wife's PNR (completely separate from mine) was also showing 3 seats for upgrade. Also, when SWUs were applied to the itinerary, all segments cleared immediately.

The UA-CO Awards/Upgrades Methods merger is now complete and Version 6.9.6 of the KVS Tool is available for download at http://www.KVSTool.com/

The previous 2 Methods have now been unified as [Awards-Upgrades/UA].

Existing CO itineraries/PNRs saved under [My Trips] & [My Bookings] will be automatically converted to use the UA code.

What is the difference between JN and ZN?

Is JN the double-mileage business award class and ZN a saver business award?

What about upgrades if ZN=0, and JN=9?
