Have all the offers received indicated the same bonus promotion code as noted above? I tried to register via the toll free automated system with the code posted above, and got an error that the offer was only valid for the addressee of the paper or email notice.

I am a little surprised that I have not received some version of the offer, because previously I was CO Plat, now Silver, and have not flown them much at all this year. Don't offers usually go to past high utilization customers? I do have nearly all Hilton stays posted to CO so they must "know" I am traveling but just not flying them.``

I got the same as Zip, namely 10 trips = 50,000, 12 = 60,000, 14 = 70,000. They must be taking me more for granted than the ones who averaged out at 6,000 per (rather than 5,000), and I'd have a better chance with a lower number-of-trips threshold.

Still, it can't hurt to register, and I'll probably have 8 or 9 trips by 5/15 or so and have to decide whether to go for it. The only way I have a shot is if the XF loophole stays in place, but you can't count on that coming through (another maddening element).

I keep telling myself these things won't influence purchase decisions, but I always seem to realize toward the end that I could get it with just another flight. *Sigh*

More data points for the "criteria" determination:

I (Gold, on the cusp of Platinum, only fly el cheapo fares) did not receive the offer, but Mr. J777 (Plat for several years, flies 90% cheapo fares, 10% "last-minute fares" for business) did receive one.

OK, so we did get it...we both got 8 for 40,000; 9th @ 5,000; and 11th for 10,000. We both received our 'invitations' today.

That explains why we were able to sign up for 10012 without a problem!

Do you guys usually pay more expensive (last minute) fares? I'm Gold and the wife is 971 miles away from Gold and neither of us received this offer. We only travel for leisure, so we always pay cheapo fares. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.</font>

Got my Select mail today (first time I got a targeted promo I believe).

My offer is for 12/1/01-5/31/02:

9 trips 45K miles
10 trips another 5K
12 trips another 10K
total = 60K

I am Gold this year and have one flight booked in December that will put me to Plat.

Miles in '01: 71,757 (so far)
Miles in '00: 65,524
Miles in '99: 11,644

I fly 100% on the cheap. I probably will use a lot of FF miles next year instead of buying tickets- my job probably won't require much travel & I will only be flying for pleasure. We'll see.

Got my offer today. Very happy!!!!

16 trips = 80K
18 trips = 10K more
21 trips = 15K more
total = 105,000 miles

I'm about 11K away from Plat. I should just make it. I'll do a mileage run if I have to, but regular business travel should get me there. My code was different than the ones posted.

Got my offer today:
7 RT = 35k
8 RT = 40k
9 RT = 45k

Like everyone else, I'm curious where these numbers come from. I almost NEVER buy fare codes other than Q/T fares, flew 4 RTs in the same period last year on CO metal, plus 2 RTs on CO partners credited to my CO account.

My spouse and I almost always travel together, usually cheapo fares, both plat. He got an 10011 Select invitation, I got 10012. His maxes at a total of 84K mi after 14 trips and mine maxes at 110,000 after 22 trips. Some insane computer at Continental perhaps knows what these incentives are based upon? If you made 22 trips between Dec. and May would your family even recognize you when you got home with your 110,000 miles, (or 194,000 if we met both Select criteria)?

Mine arrived today---the first targeted mail in a long while. I'm plat, usually fly cheap---make that always fly cheap, now that hokey is here.

It's the 10-50k, 12, gets 10k more, 14 for 70k. I doubt I'll make the 14, but this is reason to go for ten in the first half of the year.

But only if there's not much difference between the lowest qualifying fare and the lowest fare available.

This offer is the second of about 9 mailings. One mailing each month. I complained long and loud, when I didn't get the first offer back in September and others did. Since, I think I fly more segments on CO than anybody else, I was HOT. Got a phone number from Randy and talked to VP of marketting at CO. Who told me it was such a large offer they had to "cut" the list to mail it in 9 pieces. Now, you know JohnNYC...

This whole thing seems like another way of doing a "fly more segments" bonus. I wonder if they'll do another round of that as well after the current round expires.

Also hope that some benevolent third party comes up with something. C'mon American Express...

Just got mine. Interesting that this comes shortly after I purchased my first D/J ticket for the Plat run I just did. This is the first targeted promotion I've ever received. My tiers are 10 r/t for 65,000 , 12 for another 5k and 16 for 10k for a total of 80,000 miles. My promo code was 10012.
