Yes, I have used ITN once to actually make a purchase.
I was trying to buy a ticket for a friend on a DEN-FLL fare that had already been pulled from most of the Res systems. The ones that still listed the fare wouldn't allow a 3rd person credit card to be used. ITN was the only one that still had the low fare and let me buy the ticket for someone else.
Now I don't feel QUITE so guilty for utilizing their resources several times a day to check on the availability of F seats!

flyertalk should get an 'ignore' feature as part of the preferences so that you can select certain users for your list.

Unless there's an INCREDIBLE deal on the airlines website, I buy my tickets from whoever gives me the lowest price. Strangely, this has often varied between the airlines own sites, Travelocity, American Express (ITN), BizTravel (sad to see them go), etc.
Keep in mind that American Express owns ITN now, and they have ripped so many of us off for so long that one should not feel giulty about getting anything from them. Not sure about that, call their customer service and see what country you are connected to, and what the minimum wage is there. Or, just go read the Amex forum over the last few years.

I have never used ITN to purchase a ticket. Also i found out once that if I used seat selector feature to look at availability of seats, it had actually booked the seats under my name leading to multiple bookings once. This may have been a bug they have fixed but I have made sure that the traveller's name is different from mine just in case and so cannot actually book under my login.

I recently booked a 3-leg 3-day trip, for my wife using ITN, AUS-DFW-IAH-AUS, using AA AUS-DFW, then CO for DFW-IAH-AUS. Got a very good price, was able to select her seats, including elite-only seats on CO, received e-ticket confirmation. No problems at all.

It's the least I can do to help support what I think is one of the most valuable travel resources on the net. Also, as far as I know, hotels are still paying 10% commission with no cap on all travel agent bookings, including web-only providers, so ITN is probably making much more money from me than someone that just books airline tickets. This way, I can use ITN to my heart's content to get a minute-by-minute update on the latest EUA debacle and not feel guilty about buying my airline tickets directly from the airlines' web sites.</font>
