I've never used to purchase an airline ticket, but I use it to reserve hotel rooms whenever possible. It's the least I can do to help support what I think is one of the most valuable travel resources on the net. Also, as far as I know, hotels are still paying 10% commission with no cap on all travel agent bookings, including web-only providers, ITN is probably making much more money from me than someone that just books airline tickets. This way, I can use ITN to my heart's content to get a minute-by-minute update on the latest EUA debacle and not feel guilty about buying my airline tickets directly from the airlines' web sites.
