Website booking - How do I force a codeshare?
Does anyone have an idea how to force CO's website to include NW routes that I can find on Expedia or Orbitz , but not on CO's website. I am trying to force a IAD-MSP-ATL routing. when I put in IAD-MSP I don't get the direct NW flights but a connection through CLE on ERJ's which I don't want.
When I do this on Orbitz or Expedia, it shows the flights i want at a good price. I just prefer to get the CO bonus online.
Anyhelp or info would be appreciated

I have had similar problems. Sometimes if you force the site to search by schedule it will find those flights. However, when this has worked for me, it is generally at much higher prices than NW.
In my limited experience it seems that not every NW flight is available to codeshare.
Sorry that this is probably not much help.

CO's web site will ONLY let you book CO flights. You cannot book codeshares or any alliance flights. It's so weird, i mean this is 2002, right? well...then again...we are talking about CO. by limiting us to booking codeshares and alliance flights, it is an "enhancement" don't forget.

As to the comment that CO.com can *ONLY* book CO flights, that comment is not entirely accurate either. CO.com will allow you to book a code-share flight when it involves a connection and at least one of the segments is on CO metal.
For example: You can book a EWR/PHX via HP on LAS just fine. The EWR/LAS semgments would be on CO, and LAS/PHX segments would be on HP. I will add that the pricing is usually not what it should be, but it *can* be booked.
On the other hand you cannot book EWR/PHX on HP metal. Personally I don't really have a problem with that, from a corporate standpoint it does make sense.
In the same vain, you *can* book EWR/BOI via SEA w/ the SEA/BOI segments operated by Horizon. You *cannot* book SEA/BOI on CO.com alone w/out another CO segment attached to it.
I guess what I'm trying to say here, is that as far as I can tell for domestic travel, CO.com will never allow you to book legs that have no CO involvement at all. There are certainly limited times, like AF (flight #80 & 81) where this is permitted, but those are special circumstances.
I just went thru a similar problem. I wanted to go from EWR/TPA, but maximize mileage. T'locity gave me an awesome route, with all segments operated on CO metal, but NW flight numbers. EWR/RDU/IAH/TPA... CO said "we do not serve the RDU/TPA route." I argued that the eTimetable provides (10) routes, via EWR, IAH and MEM. Bottom line, they could NOT book it. When I "search by price" it provided a route via EWR, but that would be illegal routing (going thru the hub twice). But, when I "search by schedule" I got "Error."
I just needed (1) more flight to get the final 6k bonus, so here's what I did: Ticket 1: EWR/RDU r/t booked on CO for $107. Ticket 2 (nested): RDU/IAH/TPA booked on NW for $87. But, like I said, every single segment is on CO metal.

You may be able to get t'locity or others to give you a CO flight number on it, but CO.com won't book 'em.

yeah, see above, I kinda caught myself on that one, but unless I am mistaken, they will not permit a direct flight as a code-share. i.e. the EWR/PHX that I was talking about, or EWR/MSP.

re: non-stop code shares...
As I said in my first post, I was discussing domestic travel. Certainly the EWR/CDG on AF is an example.

Sorry, I meant domestic code-shares require a connection.

Anyway, the funny thing is that the timetable on co.com will show you a direct EWR-MSP routing on NW. Of course you can't book it.
