Uncredited legs

I recently took a flight from LAS-SAT..flight was ticketed as a direct flight..IE one stop in Houston but no scheduled equiptment change...when we got to IAH they did change plane and gate on us..but they did not credit me the extra leg..now Im exactly one leg short of Gold. Has anyone had a similar experience and would OP credit the leg???

Call the service center and explain what happened - - -you may need to send them your documents - - - but they'll be happy to add that segment for you, I'm sure. If the agent on the phone is unable to assist you, ask for a supervisor. If you took an extra segment, you're due an extra segment.

I disagree. When you book a direct flight, you get only one segment credit. Period. It doesn't matter whether you must change planes. "Direct" means same flight number, and nothing else.

The fact that you are one segment short of Gold has nothing to do with an unscheduled equipment change in IAH. Even if you didn't have to change planes in IAH, you were going to be one segment short anyway. Take another flight before the end of the year (see Mileage Run forum).

Thanks for all of your replies. I contacted the OP center and spoke to a wonderfull agent by the name of Holly. She credited the leg without any hassles. I am quite pleased. This reaffirms my belief that Continental is the best airline out there bar none. The should commend and appreciate agents like Holly.

Happy Holidays and safe travels to all.

I knew they would do that for you. You're right, Continental is the best! I'm sometimes amazed when I read posts in here where people are having problems, because I have never received less than courteous and efficient service from the folks on the phones at Onepass.
I think some people must be too grouchy and/or demanding. I'm forever reminded of my grandma's advice about "honey and vinegar."

Fortunate for him but not true in every case. Post 9/11 (09/15 I believe) I had to end up taking an HP flight from OAK to SAT just to get home. It was supposed to be a direct flight but due to a "change" we ended up changing planes and gates at PHX. CO refused to credit the extra segment. Not a very nice way to treat one of their "very best customers".

I'm sorry for you that you didn't reach the Holly mentioned above, as it could have spared you from the judgemental label of being grouchy and demanding. It must have been you....

The segment credit rules are clear -- one flight number, one segment. Elite status should be subject to rules as much as everyone else. Treating the "very best customers" well can be done in other ways, such as spending lots of time looking for award seats, paying for a hotel night for a weather delay, 120.20'ing an elite but not others, etc. Subjective things like that, not simple ones like segment credits.
